Close but no cigar. A pistol with an OAL of 26 inches or more is still a pistol, just "no longer concealable". If you add a vertical foregrip to a pistol with an OAL of 26" or more, it is a firearm that is still a pistol and is no longer legal to conceal

Ha! I haven't seen that ruling before, but it cracks me up. Further proof the BATF is confused.

What's amusing is the whole thing is based on a bureaucrat's interpretation, not what the actual law says

Daniel Defense Mk 18 upper on AR pistol lower, with the KAK brace. Can't decide if I want to keep the AFG or swap it out for a real vertical grip, since it is over 26". The ATF's apparent confusion on the issue isn't helping me make a decision either.

Very nice. Are these legally able to be 'shouldered' since its over 26" OAL? The ruling has been confusing to me since they reversed it.

The KAK brace comes with a copy of the ATF ruling on it, and it states "it is not a "firearm" as defined by the NFA provided the Blade AR istol Stabilizer is used as originally designed and NOT used as a shoulder stock". The underline is original. No clue if the OAL changes this ruling, or how the ATF expects to enforce the ruling, but that's neither here nor there.

That is absolutely friken sweet!! I bet you can't stop from smiling if you tried when shooting that thing. A 50 cal AR pistol!�� Now I have something to dream about tonight.
