As silly as this sounds I eliminated the lighter weight CTR stock because of a personal issue. I don't know if it was something wrong with the one I have or what but EVERY time I pull the trigger with on my AR with the CTR it freaking pulls out my beard! I'm not exaggerating I would pull my face away from the rifle and there would be a handful of beard hairs under the lip of the CTR pinned to the buffer tube. Anybody else had that issue? I know it sounds silly but I'm not real big on pulling my hair out when I'm trying to have fun.
Had the same problem, got a Vltor Modstock and it worked.

Well I sold my AR today at a gun show. I got what I wanted out of it and the guy got a good deal.

I've decided I'm gonna go with a 16 inch lightweight BCM with a blemished lower from Grant. If I don't like the AR after that, I figure I can sell it on the EE and get the SCAR.

Thanks for all the input and help.

I own a number of AR's and a SCAR. The SCAR is my favorite of the group, to be sure. However, the SCAR is still a proprietary system, and what parts that can be had, can pretty much only be had from FNH. The aftermarket is picking up for the SCAR. And I hope that FNH sees the light and starts producing barrel assemblies in the States.

The good deal for a Quality AR is that you can get the parts you need, when you need them, from multiple sources.

Still, if I were "starting over," I'd consider getting one good AR, and then focusing on the SCAR.

Yeah, I'm a fan boy, but I do think it's a "better mousetrap," at least for me.
Agreed. The SCAR is a nice weapon, but spare parts would be my concern. A well set up AR, carbine or middy, shouldn't cost you over 1500 these days. Less if you go with a MOE handguard, butt stock and pistol grip.

A very good choice. I've used Colts for years and bought a BCM 16" middy when they first came out. The Colts are "slightly" better cosmetically, and to some people that is very important. For me, a battle rifle is something to be used and abused, while still exhibiting stellar performance and durability. The BCM functions every bit as well as the Colts and I have been very impressed with the brand. I think that you will too.

I had a SCAR. Really cool gun...right up until I sold it

FN's lack of spare parts, spare barrels and barrel options ensure I will never get another one. Short of this, I don't have anything bad to say about the SCAR. Top notch product.

If however they, FN, got a clue, it would be first non-AR15 carbine I'd buy quick fast.

OP, have you shot an SR-15? That might make you stick with the AR platform.

I think you made the right choice. As I was reading from the first post, I was hoping you would end up shying away from the SCAR. I think you're going to enjoy your new midlength. Run it hard!
