    Why do you care?

from another thread here, and to avoid hijacking that thread along this track.

Please explain to me why Regular Guy A's decision should be any cause at all for derision or concern on a forum, on FB or in anyone else's mind? It's getting a little old.

I can understand why people might buy from a particular vendor if a celebrity endorses them, or a high profile unit uses them. But Regular Guy A, or Internet Personality X, making a recommendation would require quite a bit of research and due diligence on my part.

Buy what you are comfortable buying, and if it's great, write a mostly objective review so we can all benefit. Even if it's not, own up to the poor choice, again so we all might learn something in the process.

I care because I cringe when I see a guy get bent over with a piece of crap product.

For the most part it should not be anyone's business who someone chooses to buy from. That is a personal transaction between two entities and others should mind their own business.

Having said that I do think that one should do all that they can to support those who have given to them. Let's use this site. We have site sponsors. Their sponsorship has allowed this board to exist and provide the direct and indirect services it does with out having to have a membership. So for the sake of $10 or $20 I think that it is good form to buy from them. However there are limits to that dictated by ones own wallet. If the sponsors are charging a significantly higher price for an item then I can understand why someone would purchase outside of the market place channels. But it is none of my business if they do so.

I don't care, just like I don't care if you buy one of those crappy Chevrolet's instead of a well made vehicle like a Toyota or the like.

I may point and laugh at you however if you buy a hi-point and it goes boom.

I understand too is an adverb and to is a preposition, I still prefer using to in place of too.

The way I see it I'll save maybe 5-10 minutes over my lifetime not typing that extra o at the end of to. Even typing up this explanation saves me more time than typing that extra o

we resent companies like DPMS and oly for still being in business, when our idealized capitalist system should put an end to companies who sell "junk." since they're still there, and doing quite well, we tell others to "vote with your wallet" and so forth, in an attempt to assist the great Capitalism in it's inevitable execution of death upon them.

Agreed. It is no one's business who you buy from, unless the current administration wants to regulate "choice". If you bought some crappy shit, then you chose poorly.

To use the example of M4C used above, I buy from our forum vendors, unless they are out of stock, then, depending on my sense of urgency, I look else where.

    I don't care.

But I hate when I make a poor decision when a better option existed. By extension I try and prevent that from happening to others. If they still buy Brand X when Brand Z is better, at least they know before buying.

I don't care about what they buy, nor do I care if they post what they bought, but I do care when try to justify their purchases by posting a self-validating post and claiming it's "just as good as" just to make themselves feel better about their purchase.

They can buy what they want, they can like what they want, they can even brag about liking it - I honestly don't care; but what I hate is when they try to sell everyone else on their choice by disguising a "my gun is special too" post as some informational review. It's like MSM only its on the internet and its about guns.

I'm talking about Guy A ALREADY bought from Vendor Q.

Your need to comment on that choice is?

Why not say I bought Vendor 124 b/c of these objective differences, and these subjective ones?

We've all done it. I've told people to buy something other than a SERPA, even if they already have it. Why'd I do it? I was trying to be helpful and maybe save a bad outcome. Turns out there are thousands in service with no issues. Why would I care if the guy blows a hole in his leg?

Why do we care that our friend already bought a DPMS? Help them make their next purchase a better one, but dedicating five++ pages to why DPMS isn't the same as COLT, really? I can't see his DPMS from my house, why would I care -- or feign caring to score internet points?

Maybe I am changing my internet persona, but it's grating on me -- horribly.
