What you are looking at is a Bushmaster Superlite flat top carbine.

I was thinking of getting the mbus sights as well, but for the cost I would rather replace the stock. I can not see spending $400 to $500 for a EOtech sight. Besides as I use the rifle a scope makes more sense to me ( 200 to 300 yards). Just before the back of the scope there is a Bushnell Mini-Red Dot mounted on a 45 degree adapter. A 45 degree tilt of the rifle to the left gives me a backup sight that will hit whatever it is pointed at 0 to 75 yards without any problems.

    Just a thought.

It looks like you were successful in turning your superlight into a superheavy.

All without adding any real utility.

If you are on a budget, your best bet is a Primary Arms Aimpoint style sight. Several to chose from here: http://primaryarms.com/category.sc?categoryId=419

I know you want an EOTech but with EOTechs you have to buy the real thing or go home. None of the copies are good enough even for recreational use and the technology of the clones is not the same laser holography of the genuine EOTech. It's your money and you can buy as you wish but I hate to see someone spend more than they need to so I suggest saving for a real EOTech XPS, I'm hearing nothing but positive reports about their performance and my buddy has one that we've shot a lot so I can assure you they are good to go.

After reading all these helpful posts i think i'm going to stick with the front sight base i have and just add optics once i find a good one that is in my budget. no rush.

Thanks for the site - Primaryarms.com they have some good prices and if you have good experience with their optics ill start looking there.

How are the reflex sites? primary arms sells one and i see others like sightmark in the $100 range.

Oh, also I don't plan on using it for any home defense. i live in an apt and don't want it going through neighbors walls. plus theres a M&P 40 in the nightstand and a 12g in the closet.

what gasblock do i need? is it the .625 dia model? i'd like a flat top gasblock that i can mount the sight to rather than the upper or handguard

sorry if this is listed here somewhere, i could not find it anywhere.

also sorry if its a stupid question. this is my first ar and im still learning the ropes.
If you are running an EOTech (like), then just keep your FSB. It is the strongest gas block there is and you have already paid for it!

You won't be able to zero your irons though with the MBUS. So you will need the taller front sight post.

You get what you pay for in optics. Save about $200-$300 and then look for a used Aimpoint or EOTech.

Please educated yourself more on ballistics (as your HG bullet and Buck/Slug will go through more wall than a .223 (FYI).

I'm not saying any of them cant penetrate walls but the .40cal is loaded with glaser safety slugs and the 12g with birdshot (say what you will but i wouldnt wanna get hit with it at any distance much less 15ft).

I could load the .223 with frangible ammo too but thats just not what its for.

I never said i was any kind of expert im just sayin

Otherwise thanks for all the positive advice
