Those folks who through an oversight have not responded can get included in the next periodic update.

Those folks who responded to you in a timely manner ( I assume all on the left side) get rewarded by you releasing the chart now instead of waiting longer, because their info gets seen by folks more quickly than if you wait on others.

Folks who want to see the data to inform buying decisions, etc, get to see the updated data more quickly if you release now rather than waiting.

I'm sure there are numerous factors involved in your decision about when to release the update of which I am unaware. But from my limited perspective, I see no reason to wait.
Rob_S, I think every point Oldtexan made is dead on. Why not reward those who've gone the extra mile to respond and expose those who did not. And get this albatross off your neck - no doubt you've put a lot of work into your new Chart and it's quite good already.

Of course the first release of the Chart will prompt more replies, at least from those who have a good carbine. The others, who cares if they rot in a purgatory section of the chart. I bet we all have a good idea what names will be there anyway and the surprises, well it's up to them to respond.

I guess the main thing is to ensure you are in no way legally responsible for what some manufacturer may consider libel. It seems a DNR section at the bottom for did not respond is a truthful statement and can't be used against you. Just food for thought, you know how insane frivolous lawsuits are today.

Also with any first release there will be things you want to change so no doubt a first refresh will be needed and at that time hopefully you'll have a few more important names to add.

Good luck and many thanks for all the time you've put in this over the years!

I agree with Skintop911, the Manufacturers know the Chart and they know it well.

What about two columns under each Maker, one for the "Maker's Responses" and one column for "Consumer Verifications"? If a Maker has a DNR under Maker's Responses, then it will be up to Consumers to fill in the blanks for them in the CV column. OR if a Maker chooses to "stretch the truth" then, the CV column will reveal the truth.

    Just a thought...

If you had any idea how... wide the new Chart already is you would NOT be asking to add columns!

there are 36 questions on the questionnaire, 33 of them representing public information, meaning there are 33 columns to the new Chart.

I'm sure, I was just thinking out loud.

You know, it is very admirable of you to undertake all of this and I'm sure the finished product will be first-class.

If you need any help, please let me know. I've designed quite a few roundsheets, logsheets, spreadsheet presentations, etc. and would be glad to help.

    Thanks again.

Just for clarification, my comment concerning a manufacturer possibly thinking "Who is this guy, anyway ?" does not have anything to do with his identity. I should have said "Who does this guy think he is, rating our products ?"

Not to sound rude, but DUH!

We know the following things about companies:

    1. They don't know what half the questions on your "questionnaire" even mean.
    2. They know that they do not do a lot of the things on the chart, so are not going to answer.

    Found the thread (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=30&t=201191)

What is great is that what DPMS fails to realize is that the heads of the screws they are using are not big enough to fill up the hole in the gas key. See all that dead space around the head of the bolts???

So when they stake them, the metal has to go to far in order to make contact with the screw heads. This makes the "stake" very weak.

My guess is that they are using cheap screws and are undersized (which other companies like BM do as well).
