Need Advice on Replacing Faulty Dust Cover

I've finished up a 10.5" piston build and I've realized the latch spring that keeps the dust cover securely closed isn't doing the job. The dust cover springs open without the BCB traveling rearward. Is it necessary to take the barrel back off to pull the pin and put a new dust cover on, or is there a workaround that doesn't involve disassembling the upper for such a non critical piece?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Should be a small C clip on the rod that holds the dust cover on. Pulling that clip off should allow the rod to slide out towards the buffer.

Thank you sir. Seems I have a less than a true mil spec upper. Not enough room to sneak the pin under the forward assist. All good now. I had the spring in backwards which I learned form this video. I was able to get the pin back far enough to turn the spring around. GTG now.

    Thanks to all for replying.
