Apparently the torque specs, the thread inserts and the use of Loctite threadlocker has changed on the ACOG and VCOG. Also, Bobro mounts have changed as well.

This thread is from TOS, but it has been very informative. > https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/VC...-OP/18-739004/

Yes, though it's different now with the changes that were made according to Trijicon if you read through the link in my last post above.

That's for the TA51 and detachable carry handle thumb nuts, this thread is about the mount screws.

Speaking of the TA51 mount, does anyone know why the TA31RCO's have the mount reversed compared to the other TA31's?

I just received a new TA31RCO-M150CP and thought that it was odd the screw heads are on the right side. I then thought that perhaps someone had reversed them at the store I bought it from. I took a look at Trijicon's website and, sure enough, they come like that from the factory. Does anyone know why?

I think the RCO models are that way at the request of the Army and the Marines so that the big thumb knobs don't catch on things when the rifles are rubbing against people when they are hanging from slings, but I could be wrong about that though.

Those knobs being on the left = sometimes a user'd make a go at the charging handle with their left hand, and would catch a knob on the TA51. The solution was to detach, rotate and reinstall the TA51, because those knobs being on the right didn't interfere with anything.

The Corps fielded the RCO before the Army did, and made the request that they be installed with knobs on the right. Some of the fieldings/NET we did included rotating those mounts until they started coming from Trijicon in the requested configuration.

It’s interesting to know the history of the configuration. Thanks.
