I need to get back on the bike too after a few months layoff. Got distracted and deep into archery. No excuses....weather's been pretty nice here in Northern California. And I just picked up a used bike off craigslist last week for 2012 usage. It'll replace a 2009 Cervelo P2....going old school and back to aluminum with a 2006 Cervelo P2SL. The sleek and stealthy black is too damn sexy.

I need to ride today but the wind is a blowing.....damn it.

I HATE the wind. I'd rather ride up a 22% incline than fight the wind....

The only good thing about the wind is it makes you feel like a pro when its at your back.

Remember riding against the wind is called "character building " ;-)

The worst is the double reversing headwind.
Whatever direction you go - HEADWIND.

If you don't mind those inclines you should try the Moab Century Tour in Sept. 3,000 ft in 7 miles is what they say, all in the first 35 miles of the century. Last year it was chilly and wet, the previous year it was high 90s and WIND.

    Builds character...... Or something.

    My ride...

75+ miles last weekend, this weekend will be a short ride as it's race day! Pinewood Derby racing that is. Monkey #2 is racing his first derby so have to go to that.

Current plan is to do some 200K and a 300K + with the local randonneurs this year.

HERE is a write up on my rides so far...

Stole Dave5339's bike for two rides this week as he is laid up sick and also nursing some tendonitis in his leg. So far this ride is proving to be about 2-3mph faster over a known measured course than my Vrex. It also is generally at a lower effort on my part as measured by the Garmin HRM. This may make randonneuring a feasable event in my future, provided I can sell my Vrex to fund the purchase of an F5 Enduro...

Cycling is really an effective cardio workout for making legs, thighs muscles strong. It also help in reducing body weight and increases the metabolism.I usually do 15-20 minutes cycling daily in the morning.

Ended up with this instead of an F5 Enduro.

It's a great bike, and I have converted it to 700c wheels with disc brakes, and fyi mine is the steel frame version but otherwise is exactly like this.

Between the new bike and wheelset, I have picked up 4mph avg, to about a 14mph avg and did my first century ride in over a decade, last weekend.
