im kinda having the same question. i like aimpoint and wanted one but im going to a US Cavalry sale tomorrow at their radcliff, ky store and was told by the manager theyre supposed to have optics up to 50% off. the 2 im interested in is trijicon and eotech. only a trijicon if its a damn good price. im lookin more towards the eotech but narrowed it down to the xps series bc they dont carry aimpoint. so i looked on their site and seen xps2, xps3, and exps3. what are the differences? im guessing the xps3 is the newer updated version of the xps2? idk about the exps3 though. thanks for the help, hopefully i can snatch one for a damn good price haha

XPS3 has NV capability, the XPS2 does not. EXPS3 has a QD 7mm riser and NV capability. Buttons are on the back of the XPS models and on the side of the EXPS models.

The EXPS3/OPMOD models are supposedly more robust than the XPS models, essentially being the SU231A optic that the Navy SEALs have reportedly selected for their carbines and SCARs.

The OPMOD is an EXPS3 without the night vision, therefore cheaper. I do note that the price has gone up to $495 in the last couple of weeks.

I've been running a 512 for about 5 years now on my work rifle (LE). I had battery contact issues that EOTech fixed with zero charge to me (they overnighted me a new battery compartment). I've probably had about 40K rounds with my 512 with no other issues, and my rifle is certainly not babied.

I don't mind the long battery compartment as I'm don't really have a need for anything mounted in front of my optic. I've got mine on a LaRue mount, but I like my optic sitting a hair higher with a lower 1/3 co-witness.

I'd highly recommend a used 512 for your brother, for a couple of reasons. No matter where in the US you are, if you can find batteries you can find AA's. Not so with N's, 123's, etc. Also the battery life is quite good, 500 hours at the highest setting is almost a month. If he's not leaving it on all the time, a pair can easily last for 6 months to year (I'd change at a year just to be safe). The 512 allows it to be mounted on the rail for an absolute co-witness if he wants, or any of the dozen or so risers out there can be used to cheaply and easily raise it. A LaRue is overkill if he's not out banging his rifle around, jumping out of airplanes, etc. Lastly a used 512 is not going to be expensive (I think I saw someone here asking around, and being told $300-$350 for a used one), and EOTech has awesome customer service if you end up having problems with it.

I can personally recommend the XPS, if you don't need NV, get the 2-0. I've ran mine on a 870 for about a year with all sorts of loads and now on my AR with no problems. Great RDS. YMMV.

I could buy it for my brother and have it shipped to him. They also have the XPS2-0 and XPS2-2 for "$431.97". Anyway, something to think about for him. Thanks. Mike...
I'm selling a used Eotech 512.A65 with the GGG Accucam mount and flip covers on the EE. It's got all the original documents, warranty card, and case etc. I've also got a Larue riser for sale along with it if he wants the lower 1/3 co-witness.

i bought an xps2-0. i have no need for night vision. i paid around 430 shipped from evilblackriflegirls. they have about the best prices on all EoTech's.
i wasn't sure if i wanted the 1/3 co-witness or not. i figured i can always add the height if needed, but if i got one with the built in riser, i was stuck.

I bought a xps3-0 at a shop for 520 out the door. Haven't got to shoot due to weather but I will soon enough
