What 12.5" SBR setup are you running?

Like the title says what 12.5" SBR setup are you running and how do you like it?

What are the pros/cons of your build and what would you fix about it if anything? Or how did you change your configuration around after tweaking it?

Im thinking of going with a 12.5" BCM configuration. But Im not exactly sure what to go with. Which is why Im making this thread.

Lets hear what you got. Oh and post pics if you got em of course

This may get a better reply in the NFA forum.

The 12.5 BCM setup I'm running is a standard BCM 12.5 upper with VTAC 11" rail and a Burris Tac30 1-4x24 in a ADM RECON mount.
I'm running a BattleComp 2.0 as well. With Vltors A5 buffer system, its one smooth shooting gun. I use it for when I'm doing my rounds of our ranch on ATV or in my Jeep. Its good for CQB and Mid Range work(0 to 350)

I had debated on a 14.5 bcm middy with perm attached BC 1.5 but decided to just go 12.5 as it works better for getting in and out of the Jeep or on and off the ATV

    LMT Lower
    Moe Stock
    H2 Buffer
    BCM Barrel
    BCM BCG
    BCM Upper Receiver
    Troy Buis
    Larue 11" rail
    Aimpoint T1
    Tango Down PR 4
Blue Force Gear sling modded with QD attachments
    Tango Down VFG
    Surefire G2

Only thing I would change is the rail, would more than likely go from 11" to 10" or maybe even a 9" rail to save on weight a little.

I never heard of Vltors A5 buffer system. I just googled it and Im interested. If it does in fact help with reducing recoil which allows better accuracy and smoothness then Im going to seriously consider it for my 12.5" SBR. Now Im really glad I made this thread. Thanks!

And I wasnt aware that a 12.5" SBR would be good for as far as 350 I was thinking more like 200-250. But the farther the better.

Interesting point you made with wanting to go with the shorter rail. I think thats what Im going to do with my set up. I want the lightest 12.5" setup possible. So Ill probably be going with a 9" rail myself.

But from the pic it seems you have a beautiful set up.

at 300 I can ring a 10in steel plate repeatedly. With the right bullets, thats still very effective, but expensive as i think it would require the Barnes TSX bullets(Black Hills has a load using the 50gr TSX that is impressive) or something similar that will reliably fragment at lower velocities from a short barrel rifle at those distances.

    Good to know.

I have a couple hundred rounds of the Black Hills 77gr .223 SMK red box. That should do the trick right?

Probably. Can't remember the velocity threshold for that load. I think its like 1800fps or something. Anything below that and fragmentation and bullet yaw drop off... If I remember reading correctly. I may be wrong, so id look it up in the reloading/terminal ballistics forum on here. Molon and Doc have lots of help full info.
