Not Rob but I have a battle comp. They don't flash like most comps out there that is for sure. It is similiar to what you'd see with a regular A2 FH it is not quite as good but good enough for me.

If you want the best flash supression go for a Can, AAC Blackout or Vortex. If you want faster follow up shots go with the BattleComp.

Depending how u are going to run ur rifle is which upper u should chose
Can you expand on this? Why didnt the Kino work for you? Was the FSB getting in the way of the optics you were running?

Like Jon, this is the same reason I'm considering switching away from my Kino set-up. Even with an RDS, I feel like the sight picture is a little too cluttered for my taste. I'll give it a couple more visits to the range before I make a decision, though. I don't think I've given the setup a fair shake yet.

Here's a vid of Big Pepsi shooting my 12.5" SBR today with LC M855. It has the VLTOR A5 receiver extension with a A5H3 6oz buffer and a Battlecomp 1.0 and shooting amazingly flat.

I'm running a BattleComp 2.0 as well. With Vltors A5 buffer system, its one smooth shooting gun. I use it for when I'm doing my rounds of our ranch on ATV or in my Jeep. Its good for CQB and Mid Range work(0 to 350)

I had debated on a 14.5 bcm middy with perm attached BC 1.5 but decided to just go 12.5 as it works better for getting in and out of the Jeep or on and off the ATV
Question - jwfuhrman you said you are running the Vltor A5 buffer system and Rob, you said you are running the Vltor A5 receiver extension with a A5H3 (6oz) buffer. Are these 2 Vltor A5 systems the same thing (but jwfuhrman just left out the specifics of the Vltor A5) ?

The VLTOR A5 receiver extensions are the same. The buffers they offer for 5.56mm in A5 are A5=5oz, A5H3=6oz, A5H4=7oz. My gun feels best with a 5oz buffer but I only had a 6oz on hand so that's what I'm doing until my lazy ass orders some more 5oz buffers. With the 5oz buffer it'll lock back everytime with PMC when the rifle goes empty with the 6oz it runs fine but doesn't lock back. With the 6oz it locks back using Lake City M855 or American Eagle 55gr (black box). We fired about 150 rounds today through it with it bone dry of oil.

As for the question of the profile barrels. A lightweight barrel is lighter profile that a Gov't profile but in a 12.5" I don't think it's really saving much weight at all possibly 4-5oz of that. The little bit of weight near the muzzle may actually make it more controllable for muzzle lift. With a 5oz buffer in the 12.5" it actually lifts less during recoil in the muzzle than my KAC SR15E3 set up the same way but is a 16" midlength and has a KAC Triple Tap vs. the Battlecomp 1.0 on the 12.5" SBR and both shooting M855.

Thanks for clearing that up with the different barrels Robb. And I didnt realize certain buffers will work better with certain ammo.

You said your gun feels best with a 5oz buffer. How so? It just runs smoother with the ammo you typically run or does the 5oz buffer go better with the BattleComp you are running? What should a person consider when choosing a buffer? I just would have gone with the basic Vltor A5. Im glad you brought this up.

If the bulk of my ammo is the IMI m855 62gr, then should I go with the A5H3 buffer?

The advice and 12.5" SBR builds you guys are giving in this thread is what I am using to build my own SBR. I am going to do more of my own research on this forum and other sites, but basically I am going to piece together my rifle from what you guys have on your rifles. I dont personally know anyone who I can get advice from to put my build together or know anyone who could let me put some rounds down range with one of their SBRs. I myself have never even shot a SBR. You your guys advice is greatly appreciated.
