You said your gun feels best with a 5oz buffer. How so? It just runs smoother with the ammo you typically run or does the 5oz buffer go better with the BattleComp you are running? What should a person consider when choosing a buffer? I just would have gone with the basic Vltor A5. Im glad you brought this up.

If the bulk of my ammo is the IMI m855 62gr, then should I go with the A5H3 buffer?

The advice and 12.5" SBR builds you guys are giving in this thread is what I am using to build my own SBR. I am going to do more of my own research on this forum and other sites, but basically I am going to piece together my rifle from what you guys have on your rifles. I dont personally know anyone who I can get advice from to put my build together or know anyone who could let me put some rounds down range with one of their SBRs. I myself have never even shot a SBR. You your guys advice is greatly appreciated.
5oz feels better meaning that is recoil is slightly less to the shoulder than the 6oz and settles more smoothly. Both are nicer using a CAR length stock with an H or H2 buffer. Having a lot of trigger time with ARs a certain cyclic just feels best to me, a 6oz A5H3 will work just fine for your set up but what's nice is you can play with the weights to see what you like best. Different stature shooters and those with less aggressive stances may like something different than me. I highly suggest using a Battlecomp on any AR. Most people think that since ARs don't really recoil that hard should try a drill with a standard A2 flash hider. Something like do a particular drill 5 times, then change to a Battlecomp with the same rifle/carbine 5 times and compare the averages, I'm quite certain one will see an improvement. I'm talking about a drill like this one from Viking Tactics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K3FP6UqiT0

Cool, thanks for the great info Robb. Without a doubt I am going to go with a Battlecomp and Vltor buffer system.

If anyone else has any suggestions Im all ears.

    Thanks for posting that jwfuhrman.

Ive been looking at the bravo company website and dont see any 12.5" upper with a 1/7 twist that has a 9" rail

Someone help me out with this. From looking at the page here -
    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Searc...sp?Search=12.5

It looks like I cant put a upper together the way I want it, because there are no low profile uppers available to buy that dont come with a rail.

There are only uppers available without rails are uppers with FSBs:

    1. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-S...12%20ss410.htm

    2. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-1...m4-12%20kd.htm

    3. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-1...-urg-m4-12.htm

So if I wanted to put together a bcm 12.5" low profile upper with a 9" rail would I have to order that customized from BCM?

Or maybe Im looking in the wrong spot on the site for a 12.5" low profile upper in a 1/7 twist with a 9" rail? Could the other members who posted in this thread that have 12"5 uppers, post up the uppers they chose from the BCM website as well?

Or would I have to just simply buy one of the 12.5" low profile setups the way it is and replace the rail with a 9" rail that I would have to purchase separately?

    Anyone?

Did I answer my own question in my last post? Or does bcm customize uppers? I just want to be 100% sure so I can start putting my build together.

You can buy it with the custom options they list on their website. I would check to see if it is stock.

Great rifle that runs and runs. I have several thousand rounds through it without a hiccup. Great gun, great company, great people. Can't say enough about the guys in GA.
