    Borrow?

See if you have a "really" good friend or co worker who might let you try one out for a spell to see if that style suits you.

If you can't afford a decent optic right now, use your irons until you can.
My thoughts exactly. Think of it this way. $40 evey other week and in 5 months you have enough for a decent real Aimpoint. Is it really going to hurt to use your irons for 5 months? You may even find a used Aimpoint on the site here for less.

Well, I really am not planning on being out in the range, going to loose my life if it does fail.

I mean, it it will cut on and display a dot, Ill be satisfied if it will Zero.
He doesn't sound like he wants a bomb proof optic, he just wants something for shits and giggles. If you read the OP, you will see this guys.

Although you missed the boat on the $299 Aimpoint R1 blowout at Midway for the New Year they can still be found through a minimium of Internet search for about $330. Add a DD riser for $50 and you have a really decent optics package.

Now that the Aimpoint Pro package can be had for $399 with mount included, that is a tough package to beat.

Save your money, shop wisely, and get an Aimpoint.

I've got a Vortex Strikefire, and like it. I've compared it to my buddies Aimpoint ML2 and its pretty close, not exact but a damn good job. Its supposed to be bullet proof as well. LAPD uses them, there are security companies overseas using them. I throw my rifle around to see how it holds up and so far so good. However as for what your looking for it might be overkill. I understand you just want a toy to play with. I have heard good things about primary arms as well. Ebay is probably where I would look though.

This bears repeating. M4C isn't the place for this kind of stuff IMO and I'd prefer not to see the content diluted in this manner. No offense to the OP but if you can't get on board with the mission perhaps this isn't the place for you? And before anyone gets all riled up understand that I'm not being condescending I'm just pointing out that some folks might be in the wrong place; it's probably not a best practice to go to Hondatech if you're looking for info on Mustangs.

Perhaps a test is in short order to gain admittance. It might clear up some mud on the glass.

I've been noticing this happening here more and more. This site is really valuable to people who rely on their weapons and are interested in equipment, training, and mindsets for real life stuff precisely because it avoids diluting the good information with uninformed opinions formed by people with no training.

Anyway, to the OP, use the $40 toward a sling or a Surefire G2 and a mount. I don't know what your motivation was for posting here about getting a $40 "optic" but I'm picturing something that would come with a NERF gun. It's going to be a piece of shit. Just shoot irons until you can afford an actual optic.

I think that everyone just needs to be on the same page. There's tons of sites that cater to "hobby shooters", not so much for those that are serious about mentally preparing, training and equipping themselves to win a fight. Everyone's gotta start somewhere but if you're not interested in starting at all then like I said, maybe some people are in the wrong place...

Maybe our disclaimer should precede our mission statement.
