What the heck?
Just got off the phone with atf, she told me I was not in the system yet, and won't go pending for 45 days from when they cashed my check. Then she said eta from then is 4 months.

Sorry. This was suppose to go in the transfer time thread. Can a mod move this over? Submitted on cell phone, sorry guys
bump, just to move, and maybe clarification
maybe I didnt hear her right, and she said 4 to 5 days![]()
I submitted paperwork last July. My check is still not cashed and a phone call last Thursday doesn't even show me in the system. The lady on the phone was nice but had no real answers.
3-4 months is typical for Form 1's and Form 4's.
You can get an idea of the averages at http://nfatracker.com/reports.aspx
Doing the math, I come up with 5.5 months from date they cashed the check. That's just rediculous. I see one guy on here got his stamp in 46 days from date he sent the forms off.
I guess its a crap shoot. But I still don't get why this process takes so long.
I agree,
this should be streamlined.
I have a CHL in the state of Texas, the background check the BATF does is no more strenious.
this is 2011, the process is still in the 1960's, its time to change...
No kidding. I am in law enforcement, and can't even believe it. A buddy of mine on SWAT said the same thing.
It sounds like it is a lot quicker for a department to get it done. If I worked for a larger department, I would ask them to purchase one for me.
I went through the same thing recently. Mailed end of Oct, check cashed middle of Nov, couldn't find me in the system the first week of January, my stamp mysteriously appeared the third week of January...........four days after she had told me it would be 45-60 days since I just entered the system that morning.
Like has been said; the process needs to be updated. There is no reason that it couldn't be an entirely electronic system once you scan your signed documents.
