I set up a rifle order for officers to purchase their own patrol rifles. We've got roughly 20 guys ordering rifles. A local highly talented gunsmith/ ffl is doing all the transfers free for the police. Its good to know certain folks. The gunshops charge $30 - 40 per transfer.

It is like paying for a blowjob from a 2, and hoping to get one from an 8 down the road. Sorry, but I will save my sheckels for the 8,9, or 10 from a reputable dealer versus "gun show gunny" any day of the week.
But if this business model works for you and feeds you and yours go for it. It is after all free enterprise and as PT Barnum said..."a sucker everyday"!
"gun show gunny"? I have no inflated prices, that is why my model works for me. Low end crap... I'm sure you can find dealers around selling knock off optics and NcStar bipods to the unknowing, but I for one have never in my time doing business sold a customer "low end crap".

Something I found funny.... Had a billboard boy tell me that a Aero Precision lower was "low end" and I had to ask them if they thought Armalite or Spikes was good to go, and of course I got a yes, they are all milspec man. Had to inform him that Aero makes their lowers.

This is the problem with billboarding, or what I like to call billboard commandos who think good kit only comes from those who advertise the most. Another term is lemmings.

I am no traveling gun carnie selling beef jerkey and chinese knives who forgot to shower for a week. But I have infact seen these types and understand that point of view. But to group in all the folks that set up tables at a show is just wrong. I have seen a good number of dealers with good gear.

So I ask that you do not lump my company and other folks who take the time and money to set up shop at a gun show and do offer good gear, good prices and good customer service.

If I wanted to sell low end crap, I would not have had our tooling made here, and ensured to use good steel and a top notch coating, and at the same time getting to the end user at a good price. Our company shirts are 100% U.S. made to top it off. I talk the talk, and walk the walk.

Hey no harm nor foul. Never called your business good or bad. Just generalized as a whole. You are perhaps one of the very few that actually have a good, respectable business model that works in a "gun show" setting. Drive on if it works for you. For me I haven't found one like yours so you can appreciate my distaste for gun show dealers as a whole.

There is no doubt you can find that alot of dealers are there to screw the customer, and I have seen it first hand. Nothing pisses me off more than a customer coming to me, and while talking I notice a low end optic in their bag. I ask what they are using it on, and they say a shotgun. Turns out the dealer told them a chinese reflex sight could be used on a 12 gauge shotgun.... This could have been this guys home defense weapon, and he was just given a sight that would surely be fubar after the first shot.

I would assume that some areas are worse than others as well. I have done shows mainly in the midwest such as Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. I have surely seen some dolts in my days.

The only useful things at gun shows to me are old military arms. As far as AR stuff is concerned, it's usually all shit.

I love me some WWII Milsurps, but I have a "gun show" anecdote about that.

This one time, one old mean fatass tried to sell my friend a bolt action Mauser 98K (a nice 41byf worth $450 tops) for $700. Then my friend asked for "his best price" the guy looked at it and said: $900

Best part of gun shows for me is finding those guys walking around with a rifle for sale. I picked up a 1903A3 Smith Corona in about 95% condition. It was apparent to me rather quickly that the rifle was fairly fresh out of the cosmoline. The old man had 650.00 on the tag and I quickly gave him the cash on the spot.

However, in my excitement I forgot to check to see if it was a Smith bolt or a remington, which was common due to the Smith bolts jumping after the rifle was fired, to have had the armorer replace it with the remington bolt right away.

It was infact a Remington bolt, but I still know I got a good deal. 15 minutes later another guy comes by and spots the rifle behind the table and asks to see it. I stumbled on a major 03 collector and he looked the weapon over and was impressed with its condition, and also made the comment about the Remington Blt. And then added that its nice to see a younger guy so excited about an old rifle like that, and told me to call him and he would sell me a Smith bolt for 30.00.

You can always find a good deal walking around the show.

Good for you... Some of these guys may not have access to carbines otherwise.

Nothing warms my heart more than going to a critical incident outside our city limits (via mutual aid), and seeing officers from the smaller outlying agencies holding patrol rifles. It kind of gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over.
