I have 14.5, 16 and 20" barrels already. If I use an MRP I can still service the gas system, only thing I can't do is take the can off.

Why don't you buy a SPR/M4 instead of the Ranger?

    A 16" with a SPR/M4 will be same overall compared to a 14.5" with a permanent Ranger.

You misunderstand- the 14.5 barrel will be cut to 11" so I have a small port. I already have a Surefire M4FA, that's extremely short.

Same here. I cringe at the thought of shooting without a can...

Two bits of info to add here:

One, Senate Bill 5112 got "X filed". Its dead for the session. No further action will be taken.

Second, you actually don't need to weld the can on to the barrel. Go to Wades in Bellevue. They're over priced but they have some interesting suppressed solutions. Essentially what they do is this:

They take a ten inch barrel and permanently attacha barrel sleeve to the barrel that extends the the length to 16 inches. Within that sleeve there is either a mount or a threaded barrel. You can then insert the sleeve and mount it to the gun. You get the ability to shoot it loud (works like a noveske flaming pig) or screw in the can and shoot it suppressed - in Idaho or Orgegon. The barrel is 16 inches, and is therefore not an SBR. The can can be attached and detached at will.

    Hope that helps.

I've seen a guy with one of those suppressor shrouds before. First thing I thought of was the cone my dog used to have to wear.

That's a lot better solution than welding the can if you're set on the SBR length barrel.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the other bill .... it'd be nice to draw a bit less attention from the Prius-driving douchebag crowd when I'm out shooting.

    Hey Man,
I sure hope I am wrong. Do you have a link to the new bill?
