Gear Sector E-series mount: Link
Two questions:
Has anyone had any first hand experience with this light yet?
Are any of the SF tape switches compatible?
It's nothing more than an E1B body with the Z68 tailcap and KX1 LED head. I've been alluding to this coming out for the last 8 months. (Disclaimer, I have no connection to VTAC, but I understand why this is something they'd put together).
The stats are available on SureFire's site for the individual components, but the difference between the L4 and L4Mini lights shouldn't be any more than the difference between the M600 and M300 - slightly lower peak output (I think 120-110; but these are lowball figures imho), and a touch less battery life.
If you don't want to run that particular mount and pressure switch combo that comes with the M300 Scout package, then it's silly not to use this (with either the VTAC; the IWC 1" MOE/TRX Mounts; or DangerClose/GearScout/03DG/VLTOR rail mounts)

So basically you're saying that it is typical SF bombproof construction and compatible with the accessories such as the tape switch? Am I reading that correct? (its early lol)
I'm not saying that I absolutely want to run a tape switch, but it would be nice to know I have the option...
Re: first hand experience - I've had the light for a few weeks now. For me, it gives me everything I wanted in the M300a for cheaper. I don't have to pay for an integrated mount I'll want to upgrade anyways, and I personally don't use pressure switches. For a rifle light, I like the decent throw it gives while not being too overpowering for close-quarters situations. To top it all off, it has a smaller footprint and weighs significantly less than most push-button lights (I have not weighed the gear sector/L4 mini together, but it's obviously smaller/lighter than my G2LED/VTAC combo).
Re: tape switch compatibility - I have not tested it, but given that it's simply cobbled together with off-the-shelf SF parts, I don't see why an SR07 or similar wouldn't work.

Thanks kcmo, very nice setup.
I'll probably go with the gear sector mount as well since I prefer clickie tail caps, but it will depend on the configuration I go with on a future SBR build I'm planning...just wanted to know if they were compatible just to have the option available...thanks again!
I've had great experience with my L4, so looks to be another great option. Thanks for the heads up.

I bought one of these lights. It really is a great alternative to a mini Scout. I bought this because I need a little wiggle room on my rail with the Troy front site and the mini Scouts don't give it.
Which "E" series mount will fit the lowest/tightest mounted on the top rail? I'm using a Viking/Troy 11" rail. I've looked at Dangerclose, Viking and Gear Sector.

Is it easy to remove the pocket clip on the VTAC L4 Mini? I know that removing the clip on the 2-cell VTAC L4 compromises the water resistance. Thanks.
