A Colt freak, but I've been wrong before. Do you know the actual dimension?

Just found a post from Robb Jensen stating that SAW sold him a MK18 barrel and he measured the port at .093.

According to the email I received from Ken Elmore when I asked from the factory they are .067. He does open his some for most customers so that they will work with a wider variety of ammo.

My BCM 11.5" is .076. .093 seems really huge.

Hmm. .093 is massive. One of these days I need to see if SAW will give me a comprehensive list of factory Colt porting data.

I just spoke with Robb about this. It is entirely possible it was made that large so that it would function with all types of .223/5.56.

Iraq i swear im not crazy , i saw it posted on this site. Its a piece that replaces the forward assist assembly, but it has a port on the side to vent gas. Externally it looks like a forward assist until you look closer and see the rear facing port.

Please point me to it. I don't recall hearing about such a thing. I also don't know why I would want more gas blowing out the side of the upper where my face is.

First, the article we're discussing is written by Mike Pannone so I'd give it more credence than I might otherwise.

Second, the device in question is totally unrelated to the discussion but it is real, was posted on silencertalk, and is designed to let the FA hole vent extra gas when using a suppressor. It's on the opposite side of the gun from a right handed shooters face and iirc is designed to vent down.

Pig tails are stupid since the port pressure is no different. It's an idiot's idea.... like KNS pins.

Port pressure is what you'd like to reduce a little. And the pig tail doesn't do that.
