In that time, my fiancee decided she didn't want an overweight has been hockey player, or something idk, so she bailed. That added to the stress and self pitty and weight gain.

i cut weight before by cutting all Pop/Soda out of my eating habits, quit drinking and smoking, and didn't eat as nearly much fast food. Mostly lean beef, chicken, with less starchy foods(is less bread and potatoes). I'm going to start with that again. Don't have to worry about smoking i quit that 4 years ago.

i have an endurance bike that while I'm watching TV or something at night I'll be on more. I wanna check out p90x as i have heard the same thing from people
A permanent change in food selection habits is required to sustain a lower body weight.Carbs are really body type dependent. I feel that if we put on weight/fat easily, then we should really watch your carbs and keep them in a moderate to low range. I have been using Bistro MD diet food and I have lost good weight in the last 2 months. I think the best thing about Bistro MD is that it is really low on calories and yet tastes really good.

This is huge. I've eliminated (added) sugar and most foods that ping higher on the glycemic index and have dropped 10 pounds in 2 months.

A friend put me onto Mark Sisson's book and website. Hth and good luck!

Anyone know if metabolic accelerants like Hydroxycut actually work? My wife has been struggling with trying to lose the same 10-20 lbs when she needs to lose more like 70-90 lbs to look really good. This has been torturing me for years now.

No. There are no "metabolic accelerants". Waste of money.

OK, "weight loss supplements". Ones that aren't caffeine, ephedrine, or amphetamines. Do any of them work?

Well, yeah, they work, but there are reasons many of them have come off the market or banned altogether. I will leave caffeine alone, but ephedrine and amphetamines are just plain bad, and can lead to serious health issues. Please do not take short cuts, especially ones that can kill you.

There are some things you can do right now to start this.
Stop eating all processed foods. If it comes in a box, don't eat it. Eat veggies, meat, some fruit and that's about it. Cheat only rarely, just enough so you don't binge on something. You don't need bread or pasta contrary to popular belief...things like sweet potatoes are en excellent source of carbs without the processed garbage or starch in it.

Second, find an activity you like and will do every day. Maybe that's biking, maybe swimming or rowing, maybe P90x or Oly lifting. Maybe rock climbing or hiking or crossfit. Right now it doesn't really matter, just start with SOMETHING. Later you can re-evaluate and find something that might not be as "fun" but will be more effective.

No, not directly. Don't discount the placebo effect though. And I've seen people accomplish amazing things solely in order to keep themselves from feeling stupid over wasting money on stuff like this.

    .02 if ya want it.

You shouldn't be looking at it as "I wan't to loose weight", because many times after reaching the goal people just lapse back into their old habits. You have to look at it as a permanent lifestyle change in diet and exercise.
