I am VERY interested to learn which county this is and what the actual law says.
    (12) "Armor-piercing ammunition" means handgun
    ammunition
that is designed primarily for the purpose of
penetrating metal or body armor and to be used principally in
    pistols and revolvers.
It says if you arrest somebody for having a rifle AP round and they have a competent Lawyer, you are going to be their bitch.

It isn't enough for somebody to know the section of the Law, they have to understand the definition section that preceeds it.

I like the ones that make you shoot their reloads and then you can't pick up the brass because they reload it to sell to you again.........

    http://www.lcwildlife.org/range.htm#Fees

    6 bench to 100
    18 bench/lanes to 500

    membership 30.00
range fees all day 5.00 member 10.00 non member

If you RO than no range fees and your membership is free. Also you can open the range on a "closed" day if you have 1 other shooter with you. All for free those days.

There's an indoor facility near me that makes you buy their ammo....they say it's a lower lead content or something but it's just boxes of Speer Lawman...i don't know if Lawman are noted for it's cleanliness but whatever. They also don't allow anything more powerful then a .44 mag due to the backstop issue. It's kinda handy cause they rent guns for pretty cheap ($5 per gun rental) so it's nice to be able to try different stuff out. Lane fees are like $15 so that's not too bad either......if they just let you shoot your own ammo I would have gone there more since I reload.

I ended up joining a gunclub nearby though so I don't go to the indoor place anymore....the gunclub has a bunch of different ranges on their large property and is a much much better place to shoot.

They've got a 50/100yd rifle range, 200/300yd rifle range, 600yd rifle range, 50/100yd rimfire range, 50/100rd blackpowder range, 25/50 yd handgun range. All those ranges have covered firing lines....a lot of them with woodstoves to warm up when winter shooting.

They've also got two shotgun ranges with auto throwers(one for trap the other for skeet....not quite sure as i don't shoot shotgun sports), an indoor 25yd rimfire range that's open 24hrs a day (nothing like not being able to sleep at 1am and driving 10 minutes to do some late night target shooting).

There's also a big action shooting area which is like 15 shooting bays consisting of big horseshoe shaped berms ranging in size from 10x20yds to like 50x70yds.

That's my favorite area and where I do most of my shooting. These are great because you get your own shooting bay so you don't have to worry about any firing line etiquette like in the other formal ranges, you can draw from holster, run around like in an IPSC match and such as long as you don't break the 180 (they make you take a class before getting access to this area)....you can set up targets however you want and also shoot your own metal targets. Good for bringing friends to shoot because you get your own area and don't have to worry about other people. Only downside is it's handguns and pistol caliber rifles only for those ranges.

    It's $120 a year for membership but that's a bargain IMO.

Today I found a very reasonable range. It is outdoor with 100 yard, and 30 yard rifle ranges, 7 and 15 yard pistol and shot gun ranges. These rent for $7.00 for the full day. There are friendly range officers and only safety rules, no BS stupid rules. You use whatever ammo you want and each rifle lane has a bench and rest.

The only downside is, it is about 45 minutes away (as opposed to the indoor, stupid range that is 10 minutes away) and since the ranges are outdoor, it is only comfortable shooting during the warm months here in Michigan Today it was 46 degrees, but quite tolerable.

Now I can quit going to the nearby ranges for shooting my M4. For handguns I will still go to Mr. Rude/Stupid because I can use my own ammo, and it is nearby.

I will make it a point to let His Rudeness know that I do not need his rifle range or ammo.

An added bonus is they have a sales room with almost as many new and used guns as some of the gun shows in this area.

I go to three ranges and none of them care about ammo bought in house or not.

If their ammo causes a kaboom do you think the range is going to pony up for a replacement gun?

I just see that as a way from them to charge excessive prices for "their" ammo.
