I have bought many firearms over the course of the past 4+ years with no problem whatsoever.

I pleaded an 894: "Article 894 of the Code of Criminal Procedure gives the court the discretion to suspend the sentence imposed on any misdemeanor case and to place the defendant on probation. Once the conditions of the probation have been completed, the court may set aside the conviction and dismiss the prosecution. The dismissal of prosecution will have the same effect as an acquittal."

I have completed my 'probation', which just consisted of attending a class.

My attorney is currently expunging my case.

This is in Louisiana by the way.

misdemeanor duii does not prohibit you from owning NFA firearms.. you're not going to have any problems with the ATF.

the trust will square you away.. i strongly suggest going that way, if your local CLEOs are ****sticks about gun rights. here in oregon, the only way the SO can deny a carry permit is if you're otherwise prohibited from buying a handgun- under 21, felon, expat, disdis, etc.. otherwise, they're required to issue the permit. shall issue.

Nothing you read here should be construed as competent legal advice. Based on what you said I think you are probably GTG and I would just do a trust.

As to your CCW issue. I thought Louisiana is a "shall issue" state? I just looked in the State CCW handbook and it appears that you can be denied a CCW if convicted of a DUI within a 5 year period preceeding the application.

So you should be clear rather soon I would think.
