    Geissele SSA question

Just installed the SSA trigger on my M&P15 and WOW it was worth the $ The only thing is there is a SMALL amount of "rough" creep in the 1st stage. Is this normal? or is it supposed to be a "super smooth" 1st stage? The 2nd stage is amazing! Great feel! The 1st stage doesn't really bother me but I'm just curious if any of you guys that use the SSA have the same experience. Thanks

Did you lube it, and if so what did you lube with and where.

In your case, the term "creep" would only apply to the point where your first stage "pretravel" ends and you meet the second stage "wall" and then while trying to actually break the trigger, you experience "creep".

If you have creep, than you got a bad trigger...pretravel doesn't effect most shooters once they become acclimated w. that said trigger's pretravel.

Also bear in mind the SSA is a straight combat trigger and while it performs admirably in precision applications, it's certainly no DMR or SD-E in terms of total refinement.

Yes I did lube it. I lubed all the places the directions said to lube. It came with some grease but I didn't use it bec I already had lube. The lube I used first was slip 2000. I thought ehh I'll do better than that. So I then applied Militec-1 to all the places that the directions said to lube.

I do understand the SSA is more of a combat trigger (that's why I bought it). TRIDENT82 thanks for the correction. What I meant to say was the pretravel is a little "gritty". It's really not bad at all, I'm probably just over thinking it. I was just curious if this was normal. Thanks.

I have a SSA in one of my ARs and it is smooth as a babies butt.

You may have got a bad one.

I's send it back and have them fix it.

In terms of the lube....Your SSA should have included a special vial of either red or yellow grease (aviation type), and this is the lube your want to use even though I'm sure there are alternatives.

I'm a huge believer in this grease and the way it affects the trigger. Below is what the little vials look like w. the GA supplied grease.

As far as the pretravel feeling funky....this is totally subjective but I think what your feeling is relatively normal. The majority of 2 stage trigger users rarely even "feel" the first stage pretravel once they use a said trigger enough because your focusing on that second stage "wall" where your trigger actually breaks. As time goes on, this whole process with a premium GA trigger becomes totally subconscious for the vast majority who try them.

I did get a small thing of that lube you have a picture of. I guess I'll have to take the trigger off and apply that lube where the trigger and hammer pins go. Not looking forward to taking it apart and putting it back together, but I want to do it right. Stupid me, I should have done it in the first place lol.

The red grease that came with the trigger I have is Mobil #28, works great. Tried substituting it with other kinds of grease, in my opinion, the red grease gave the smoothest 1st stage feel.

What grease is the yellow colored one if I may ask?
