    Rob's Suppressor Chart?

    Where is it?

Is there a suppressor chart with db rating, wt, length, POI shift, speed of QD on/off, list of attachment methods, etc. ?

I'm just trying to weigh my personal needs to find the one that best suits my choice of compromises.

    RE: dB ratings...

I started to include claimed numbers. The problem is that some make no claims, and by leaving the column blank I wasn't sure how it would come across.

Also, note that this hasn't been updated in some time, so things like some of the more recent mini cans aren't on there.

finally, believe it or not even these days people think they have proprietary or secret materials. If the materials aren't listed it's because the manufacturer didn't have them on their site and wouldn't share them with me, or did and asked me not to make the information public.

    Thanks Rob!

I'm weighing the pros/cons of different Muzzle Devices and suppressors to see what is going to be most versatile for me. I had KAC on my list... did it not make the chart b/c ?

Rob I just started dating again and you need to do a chart on women so I know which one to choose

I could just see it now I'm going to get my charts mixed up and I'm going to be rolling over some gal trying to see if she has a blue or black O ring

POI shift is unique to each gun and barrel. You can only determine this by trying a silencer on your barrel.

For example, I have an M4-1000 that gives one of my 14.5 barrels a 1/2" POI shift upward at 50. But when I put the same can on my other 14.5" I get a downward POI shift of 3-4".

Shift varies due to barrel length, barrel profile, can design, can length, can weight, ammo selection, temperature, etc...

BTW, as Rob mentioned, that chart is OLD.

In my little experiment... I eliminated ALL of those variables.

Same barrel length, profile, same can (so same design, length, and weight), and same ammo.

The drooper had a flat top upper and a FF barrel. The minimal POI shifter had an A2 (MUCH, MUCH stronger receiver) and a conventional (KAC RAS) rail system.

I have to think that receiver flex and thus some barrel droop/sag was at least a part of the POI shift... enhanced by the floatation of that barrel.

Cool, even eliminating variables shows how much difference there can be with even few variables (or frankly, even two of the same gun right off the assembly line) and why absolute claims of zero shift are bogus.

I agree that it's meaningless to list POI shift or other parameters that depend on the specific gun.

    How about adding:
    - welded shut vs. serviceable
    - baffles: number, spacing, style (cone, K, etc.)

Ideally I'd also love to know the following:
    - ID at each baffle
    - total indicated runout (TIR) of farthest forward baffle w.r.t. suppressor mounting surface

... but it would require many end users submitting their measurements to get any meaningful stats, plus these are not the kind of measurements your typical end user can take.
