Listing the manufacturers tolerance for POI shift would be nice if one were published. IMO the most important thing is weight with mount, increased weight of the mount over an A2 flash suppressor and length from bare muzzle. These are the things newbs often don't know to ask.

    Agreed.

    How about adding:
    - welded shut vs. serviceable
    - baffles: number, spacing, style (cone, K, etc.)

Ideally I'd also love to know the following:
    - ID at each baffle
    - total indicated runout (TIR) of farthest forward baffle w.r.t. suppressor mounting surface

... but it would require many end users submitting their measurements to get any meaningful stats, plus these are not the kind of measurements your typical end user can take.
There are no top quality serviceable 5.56 cans. The pressure and temperatures involved make this impractical. The weight/size penalty for doing this is not worth it. plus, 5.56/2.23 (and any jacketed rifle round) is not at all dirty in the can. The pressures blast out most gunk. We have cans with tens of thousands of rounds through them and they have minimal build up.

Bore size is a reasonable request- although like you mention it is harder to find.

Blast baffle bore and exit hole bore would be a good place to start as some manufacturers make these so tight that baffle strikes can be a real concern. This is a way to 'cheat' and make a lousy design seem quieter.

I don't see number and spacing of baffles as being useful in any way.

Thanks for all the info! Jason its always good to hear from you here!

I had read from Knights that the Gov't had a 2.5" POI shift max built into the original contract so I was under the belief that there was criteria for a measurable standard for POI shift.

I was also under the belief that Fisher/Vortex had developed a serviceable can that has been adopted by the Canadian Mil.

Just learning thru the errornet and friends and do not have any strongly held opinions on any of this.

I do hope that M4C gets more suppressor info on the forum as I trust the filtering process here more than anywhere else!

I do find Silencertalk difficult to search, but am over there trying.
