Shivworks - Armed Movement In Structures - June 4-5, 2011 Culpepper, Virginia

    Armed Movement in Structures (AMIS)

    Instructor:SouthNarc

The ShivWorks Armed Movement in Structures (AMIS) course is a twenty hour block of instruction focusing on negotiating movement problems within structures with limited or no resources. Realizing that moving through a structure that contains armed hostiles, perhaps by one’s self, is probably the most dangerous task one can undertake, the best options for winning a confrontation are presented with the qualification that there is no safe way to do this.

    Topics covered include:

    Day One (12 hours):

•Viewing the environment in terms of the unseen
•Vertical, Horizontal, and Diagonal planes of visual obscurement
•Distance variables and the visual apex
    •Threshold evaluation
    •Dynamic and Deliberate movement
•Room Entry factors (known versus unknown)
    •Minimizing multiple exposure
•Modifying the fighting platform to conform to cover and concealment
    •Re-setting/Disrupting the adversary’s OODA loop
    •Chalk board exercises
    •Dry-runs
    •FoF evolutions
    •Low-light module

    Day Two (8 hours)

•Practical Exercises for egress, search, and third-party rescue

    Equipment Required:

Airsoft pistol, airsoft ammunition, wrap around eye/face protection suitable for Airsoft and man-marking cartridges, holster, groin protection, flashlight, and a notebook.

    Course cost:

20 hours of instruction is $400.00

AMIS is a course that has been given the highest recommendation from a lot of very switched on people. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to take the class.

If you're within driving distance of Culpepper you owe it to yourself to attend this one, folks!

This training to me is more useful "in the real world" than most open field training...

Does one have to provide all the airsoft equipment or do you think there will be those that may loan others this airsoft gear if we bring our own airsoft ammo & CO2 tanks?

Groin protection? You mean like an athletic plastic cup? I haven't owned one of those since a teen...

RMPL - I have an e-mail in to SouthNarc asking for his recommendation for airsoft weapons. I'll certainly update you when I get a response if he doesn't beat me to it by responding to this thread.

I'm sure that if we can get enough people in for the class that we can find a way to have some equipment sharing going on.

Groin protection would indeed be an athletic cup.

Directly from SN in response to the question about airsoft guns:

Anyone of the semi-auto gas guns should be fine. We're not grappling with them so anything relatively reliable should do.

This makes me nervous... Sounds like we may be getting knee'd in the groin or something...

I sent an email. I hope I can make it. It sounds awesome. Now, if anyone has a link to what airsoft brands are better than the others... I take it there is no chart for that stuff???

FWIW, I'm looking hard at one of the KWC CO2 powered M&P models as the reviews I'm seeing of them seem to indicate they are good quality and they'll fit in my holsters.

Nope. ECQC is the grappling course. The danger here is taking an airsoft/sim round to the groinal region, which can sting a bit.

I am signed up! I will book my flight in the morning. Gathering gear is next. I like the M&P airsoft gun. I will probably run with that too. Should I pick up 2?I have no idea how durable this stuff is.

Thank you for posting this JW! I am thrilled.

I've thought about buying a couple of guns as well. Since the going price seems to be in the sub $60.00 range I think that's doable.
