If you do not mind giving up the colt side sling adapter on your carbine, you should consider the front side sling adapter that grsc.com sells. I'm with you in trying to keep accesories to the minimum on my carbine. I have one and it really works well with Israeli style slings. You get just enough rail to lock one scope ring with any light you can fit in it on to the bottom. Its solid enough for everything I will be doing with my carbine.
