    gas block sans barrel detent

how big of a deal is it if the barrel doesn't have a dent for the gas block screws to index and hold on?

    what alternatives are there?

It can and will shoot loose. It's pretty easy to dimple the barrel for the set screws.

Better yet, have the gas block pinned. Noveske, ADCO ect... can do it and cost is minimal.

    thanks,

I had a friend with a drill press put a couple indentions so I could line it up and keep it from moving. screws are set into the barrel now.

however, i'll admit I don't understand exactly what's involved in pinning. if neither the barrel nor gas block have holes for a pin, are you saying noveske et al. would drill holes through both and insert pins?
