    Critique this build please.

This started out as a basic BCM 14.5 upper and a stripped RRA lower built with a DD LPK. The optic is a Aimpoint Comp M3. I like the fact that I never have to turn it off and I will probably be dead before its time to change the battery.

My intended use for this is HD, range use and a SHTF type weapon. I may also enroll in a carbine class or 2 as funds and time allow. Please tell me your observations and what I could have done better. Thanks.

It looks good to me. Missed your light initially, damn things are getting so small these days.

I need an upgrade from my now over-sized Surefires.

Very nice. How do you like the Troy rail though? A friend has a similar rig and I was a bit surprised by its weight.

The Troy seems ok to me. It locks up solid and isn't really too heavy.

I was about to ask the same question. According to Rob's chart on FF rails, the troy 9" rail weighs a good 6 oz more than a comparable rail from DD.

Youre GTG then. Also, I see youre running an IKH SLAP... Did you assemble the lower yourself? How does it engage the channel on youre RE threads? Does it go in all the way and fit snug?

These are not FF rails. They are 2 piece drop ins.

I'd swap the ASAP style rec end plate for a noveske or dd qd rec end plate (that's just me), run a vcas, and POSSIBLY look at Midwest's new gen II drop in mid length handguard... seems STEPS ahead of their previous offerings and would keep things at about the same price point if you sold the troy. The troy is a solid piece of kit, just a little dated. Obviously, there are better choices then either of them. Overall, that is a good build.

Yes I assembled the lower myself. It was a stripped RRA lower built with a DD LPK. I ordered all the lower receiver parts including the receiver extension and castle nut from DSG arms. I got the IKH SLAP from Aim. It fits just as well a regular end plate. Everything went together smoothly. I just learned to have a extra supply of detents on hand though.
