I just installed mine last week and have been impressed with it thus far. I have a Troy TRX Extreme on another gun and have been very happy with it, so I figured I'd give the DD option a try and see what I thought.

One thing I like off the bat about the DD rail is that you do not have to remove the handguard to change rail placement. Granted, this is usually a moot point once you get it set up, but it is nice to be able to easily remove rails initially while getting it configured.

As mentioned above, I've still not settled on a forward sling attachment configuration. I'll be interested to see what options other come up with.

I've owned a Troy MFR and TRX Extreme, and I've been disappointed with the quality of both. The DD Lite and RIS-II are worlds better, but very more expensive.

Had this rail been released when I bought the TRX Extreme, without a doubt I would have bought the DD over the Troy.

DD rails are the best i've used. From design, manufacturing, sales support etc, its all there. Nice things cost money, but I have no doubt my RIS-II will be probably the longest lasting componet of my rifle.

Interesting... When the TRX came out, I thought I'd like it. But then I shot one and couldn't stand the feel of it. It was so slim it felt like I was holding the barrel. And there was such minimal space between the gas block, I could move the barrel with the flash hider to where it woud hit the rail with little effort.

Is that a QD Sling attachment point on the left side of the rail? I never saw that socket in any of the other MFR photos.

It is a custom install I love the rail and run a Vickers two point sling.
The best way I could figure out the sling mount was do a little work.

I'm wary of the set-screw attachment method. That's why I didn't like the Omega X rails.

Holding a DD RIS-II and a TRX, its easy to see why the DD is more expensive. Not just from a ergonmics standpoint either. DD stuff is a work of CNC art.

I could never get the TRX or MRF to align perfectly with the upper, using both a DD upper and a Noveske upper. Both the TRX and the MRF were slightly lower. Just enough to annoy me.

Intrestingly, the DD (Lite 12.0 & RIS-II) mated up with both the same two uppers perfectly.

I passed on the Omega for the same reason. It looks as if the brunt of the weight on this rail is on the countersunk screws.
