I'm partial to Chip McCormick mags.

X2.
I only use CMC mags, 10's are for range use only. I have a few 10's and I do have problems from time to time with them, I have both the power and the power+ nither of them are worry free. Carry only 8's, if you need that extra two round's get another gun.

My experience mirrors that of Rob_S and Templar.
The CMC Power 10 mags are GTG (as are the 8rnd mags too).
I never experienced a malfunction when running them in my 1911.
I don't find them very useful for carry due to their length, but they are handy for range use and I used them to great effect in classes and carried them on my chest rig as reloads until I transitioned to a Glock.

Forgive me, but why are you so worked up about the plastic thing on the mags? They apparently work just fine. Do you have any information to the contrary you can link to to help us understand the basis for your concern?
I agree with rob_s regarding the plastic front tab, but luckily Tripp Research offers an aluminum basepad version for those that are looking for more than a range mag.

I have used Wilson 10rd mags for many years and have had no problems. I use them in my "Go Bag" and raid vest at work and I carry one as a spare when plain clothed or off-duty.
