Recoil Spring Question for a Sig Sauer Armorer?

I just field stripped my P229 to run preventive maintenance and couldn’t help but realize my recoil spring seemed a bit chipped off the front end??? I know this is probably not normal but my question is How severe is this issue? Should I replace ASAP? I am not sure how this happened since I’ve only fired 300 rounds since I purchased it about 3 years ago and the last time I fired it was 5 months ago. I clean it light once a month. …

Normal. That wraps around the base of the guide rod to keep it captured.

Glad to hear it's normal! I just finished ordering a spare just for peace of mind. Thank you for your guidance by the way!
