What seems to work the best. How wide should the front sight and rear notch be? White outlines on the front only, all three or none at all? Same colored tritium or yellow rears?
I appreciate your help.

I run green on green Trijicons, they work really well for me. The contrasting front/rears are nice, but in my experience the colors other than green lacked brightness.
I like meps alittle better than Trij as they seem to be larger vials
but thats me.
Front and rear alignment is important, so have tritium on both ends. For three dots, I prefer to have a green front and yellow rear to distinguish them. However, I would suggest getting Warren Tactical or Heinie straight-8 sights. Dot over dot gives you better alignment on the horizontal shooting plane(more crucial than vertical), and there is no chance of getting your sight alignment confused as you can with 3-dot setups. I do much better overall in my shooting with Heinies on my duty Sigs.

I prefer the trijicon, 3 green dot. The green is brighter than any other color and is still easy for me to distinguish the front site from rear. I love the way they look on my nightstand when Im in bed, pitch black in the room and the only thing I see is 3 glowing green dotsbest night light ever

That is kinda like asking if you like Fords, chevys or Dodges. I hate three dot sights, but if I have to use them I prefer them to be yellow in the back and green up front. I like a single green up front or the straight 8 setup.
I just ordered a set of Ameriglo Idot sights with a green front and a yellow rear. I have used the Heine straight 8s in the past and I like the look of the Idot sights.
Good luck.
When I had my green Trij's put on, the smith told me, "The main reason why there are yellow/green night sights on the market is because some non-gun-guy cops were mistaking the front dot for one of the rears."
Try as I might I have never been able to misalign my night sights in the dark and have it feel at all like a natural shooting grip.![]()
I personal like a wide blank rear like a 10-8 or heinie, with a trijicon front white ring or hd (yellow or orange) The wide rear is very fast and there are no dots to mess with. Try several if you can it took me a little time i went from 3 dot to the blank rear but once i got used to it i like it much better.

When your senses are confused, and your heart rate is over 150bpm even the most experienced shooter can make the mistake. I had the chance to run through Quantico's special weapons combat course last year. I served 5 years in the Army, then another 11 years as a LEO. I've been one of the tops shooters in my agency for all that time. During the night shoot they make you run a treadmill until your heart rate is around 170bps, then with low light and emergency lights flashing you do a course of fire. A number of shooters, including myself observed possible sight alignment problems with 3-dot systems under these conditions.
Train to be your best, but be prepared to not be your best under combat conditions. Adjust your equipment accordingly.
I run meprolights on my USP45. Green front yellow rear.
