    My 44th AR assembly

This is my go-to gun - I finally got it like I want it. You guys' input dictated a LOT of what you see here.

I stippled the pmag - it ended up looking like German Zimmerit. Stag lower & LPK, Hopson sling.

Pretty much everything else that's important is identifiable from the pic:

Looks to be a solid blaster. Considering you said "You guys' input dictated a LOT of what you see here." I assume its a BCM. Is it a 16" or a 14.5"?

Yeah - 16" BCM upper and BCG.

I can't say enough good things about the BCM stuff. I was using Federal bulk ammo from Wally World, and that gun was hitting a 4" lollipop at 100 yards with boring regularity.

Looks pretty damn good to me. Any plans on putting a light on it? And what have you got going on with the sling mount on the CTR? You've peeked my interest.

I've got a decent light setup - a Surefire G2 in a Larue offset mount. I just forgot to have it on the gun when I took the pic

The sling mount - I try to idiot-proof and strengthen things when I can. I took an old QD swivel, drilled it out from the bottom, and removed its inner workings. Then I found a stainless screw that fit in it just right. It's secured by a lock nut with a nylon insert over a couple large washers.

To me, it's one less thing to mess up. I don't make a habit of taking my sling off and putting it back on, so I don't really need the QD feature, and if I ever plan to work over or near water, I can put a functional QD swivel on it if I have to.

Very nice carbine, Cat! Can't go wrong with BCM either. Interesting mod to the QD swivel, plenty secure now.

That's a lot of ARs, sounds like you've got one for every President. Do you call #44 Barack? Sorry! Yikes I just stepped in the kitty litter box again...

Ordinarily that'd call for some hissing, a clawing, and maybe a random spraying or two, but that was pretty darn funny right there!!!!

(that smiley says 'sarcastic', but I don't use it as such!)

I only have the one AR right now - and she's the 44th one I've assembled. I haven't bought a complete AR since 1989, and I've assembled many for friends.

Well #44 is a great one Cat, so I guess you kept the best one. I've only built two ARs and still have both. I never get rid of anything so I've got to limit my builds. Sorry about the smiley, just chose one with a smile, to stay out of catfights guess I'll have to remember to use

Ohhhh... now I know what you meant, it was the laughing icon you used. Yeah I don't know why it says sarcastic. ???

Any particular reason you went with the carbine over the middy?

Yeah - I already had the forend.

Number 45 will be for Mrs Cat - it will be a Middy.

Quentin, I FINALLY learned not to get rid of anything. Took years though
