Indeed gas erosion is significantly reduced with an angle drilled port, and you can get away with using smaller ports than on a traditional non angle drilled gas port.
eta...while on topic, it's also worth noting the perfectly straight gas tubes used with the Rock MRP barrels...while by itself, it's not too significant, when combined with all the other little features, it's plays a factor into the uber reliability of the MRP system.

The pic credit goes to AR15barrels.com just for the record![]()
I suppose I should also add the stipulation that if there is any type of ammo that does NOT feed/cycle relaibly, please mention that as well.

Subjective estimate of felt recoil: It's hard to say, shoots as well if not better than most other 16" carbines I have shot
Little bit necro here, but relevant, so I'll put it here instead of starting a new thread:
In shooting my Buddy's SBR this weekend, we encountered several (10 or more in less than 200 rounds) malfunctions. Each was the same: The spent case was extracted, but not ejected and another round was attempted to load. The gun in question is a factory DD MK18 upper on a KAC factory SBR lower. He had an H2 buffer in the gun. My guess was that the buffer was too heavy and the gun was short-stroking. We didn't have a lighter buffer with us to try. Ammo was FED XM193.
Thoughts? The buffer or something else?

How many rounds through that upper and has it been "flawless" in the past with same ammo? What BCG? Has the user checked to insure his ejector is oiled and functioning? Length of action spring?
Look at some of the advice in this thread: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=99220
Also, is this upper and the H2 buffer a virgin combination? in other words, is this the first time this buffer has been used with this upper?

Troubleshooting 101 requires that we have all of the info.
1. How many rounds through this upper to include the BCG?
2. Has it malfunctioned before?
3. Did you try other ammo?
A heavier buffer will not cause it to short stroke. Short stroking involves a break in the gas system. Gas rings, carrier key, or gas tube.
