Just order a new barrel too! Lol. I have the 16" FDE on order, but plan on picking up a longer 5r and a 6.5CM barrel later on.

Interested in knowing if guys are getting consistent sub-MOA accuracy with the factory SS 6.5 barrels or would it it be worth the time, effort and money to pursue a custom option.

From all the reports I have heard or seen, SS produce consistent sub Moa groups.

I thought I recalled reading on the old Snipers Hide thread some were not pleased with the .260 and 6.5 barrels and when LMT was contacted they stated only the .308 barrels were considered match grade. Granted that's been a few years back and couldn't find the post when I looked.

I have 2 20" LMT 6.5CM barrels. Both are sub MOA. My only complaint is they are 20". A 24" would be more suitable in 6.5CM IMHO. You lose a decent amount of velocity with the 20". I've taken mine out top 1,200 yards, but they are going subsonic at 1,250.

After I burn out these barrels, I will be going the custom route.

I appreciate the feedback. Going OEM seems like it would be the most cost effective and a simple solution, but I've been looking at the Proof Research 24" 6.5 CM barrels and thinking about picking one up for an MWS conversion if I can source a sacrificial 16" CL to be the barrel extension doner at a relatively low cost. ETA: all depending if the Proof Research barrels lends itself to such a conversion without major issues. Need to conduct more research before committing either way. I know there's extensive discussions on the topic over at the Hide, so I just need to carve out time for myself to read through all those pages.

I was looking at the 260 barrels and one thing I noticed is they are a 1-9 twist, not fast enough to stabilize 140 or 130 VLD. According to Berger that twist rate is max out at 120gr bullet given 2800fps which is conservative. Not sure why LMT would use such a slow twist rate.

I've been able to 1/2 moa groups with my 20", but LMT was smart enough to use a 1-8 twist. When both rounds are very close in overall performance it doesn't seem like a logical option to manufacture the 260 with a slower twist rate. Mark Chanlynn made a 6Creedmoor barrel for my LMT and it shoots under 1/2 moa, when I pay attention and do my part.

Yeah its weird they went with 1:9 however with Horndaddy's new 130 grain ELD Match and 129 SST I have high hopes.

My Blaser 6.5x284 is 1:8.75 or something weird like that so I'd like to find a bullet that works well in both.
