What is the difference between the gen 1 and gen 2 quadrails?

The entire upper is either machined (Gen 1) or from a forging (Gen 2) which gives the exterior shape from a mold. The easiest way to spot a Gen 1 is the sharp edges on the case deflector.

Another thing to look for is the bolt. Gen 2 rifles mostly (but not always) have dual ejector bolts. There are also changes to the lower involving the magazine release area.

Looking to get my first MWS and biggest priority is weight savings - hence I'll be going with a 13.5 in 308 and a possibility of suppressing it down the line. Does anyone have a list of suppressor-ready muzzle devices that will bring OAL to 16"? I checked around the search function, but couldn't find any pertinent information. A few that I've seen in here have SF muzzle brakes but with a spacer to get to length. Same goes for the KAC Mams QDC, but to be honest, the last thing I wanna do is buy Knights. Thanks in advance.

I have a 13.5 5R barrel for my MWS and asked the same question you did a while ago. I got the same answer which was “you have to have a longer barrel cut down”. I called LMT and asked them and the person I spoke to said LMT was considering a pinned and welded 13.5 barrel for a stand alone sale but didn’t have that option yet. (LMT does sell a complete rifle with a pinned and welded FH to make the 16” OAL) I have been on the look out for a FH or BK to make the 16” requirement AND mount a suppressor as well. Nothing yet.

That would make more sencse than a 13.5 Offering. A 13.8 would be great because then it would be pin-able with most after market offerings.

I sent this one to D.Wilson and had him chop, pin, and weld for me. Turned out great. I call it the junior L129a1. My other MWS wears a 24in 6.5 Creedmoor barrel.

I bought this MWS used last year for a really good price. It is an old one for sure. Has the single ejector and is marked as "CAL .308" vs 7.62X51.
