Fondeled a new Ruger 1911 yesterday

Nice. Likes, decent trigger, about 5 or 6 pounds, good finish, tight, good sights, good 8 round mag, series 70 action. Not like 2 tone, I like rubber grips, and they do not have a officer model slide out yet. Price $730, but was told it will come down in a month or so to $699. All in all when they come out with an officers model one will follow me home.

...We have long maintained that the only accessories that a 1911 needs are a trigger you can manage, sights that you can see, and a dehorning job. That still goes.

I got to look at one about two weeks ago--probably the first one in the state. I'm hardly in the market, as I got my first 1911 in 1960 and am pretty well fixed in that line--but I really liked it. Jeff Cooper would call some of the features "rooney", and I can certainly do without the beavertail, go-fast hammer, and perforated trigger--but it seemed very well made and felt great in the hand. Excellent sights, and decent trigger. I hope it does well in the market.

At some point I will probably get one "just because" and see which of my kids falls in love with it.

I'd love to snag one of these on the pre-owned market for that famous Ruger market value, i.e. somewhere in the $450-$550 range. It looks promising even if the slide says "Ruger" instead of "1911-A1" and all that.

590 is pretty amazing. They are regularly priced at $650 in my area.

the more i look at the sr1911, the more i want it. It has almost all the features i would want in a 1911. All the upgrades that are practically standard in today's 1911's compared to the old GI models except it has a NON-ambi safety, no firing pin block, no front serrations, standard GI guide rod . The only thing i would want to change on it is front stap checkering and to put in a medium length trigger. Inbetween extended and GI length. Looks like a winner.

Ruger's definately doing their homework eh? They're bringing out some great products. SR9, LC9, LCR, LCP, SR9c, SR40 and now SR1911.
