    Unhappy Dang

    Dang,
I am sorry to hear all the problems from LWRCi, I can not say I had any of those issues, granted both my uppers have acted with out issue.

My advise, buy just the upper, that's what I did, granted I asked for the 'military' discount for both.

only issue I have had with either is the recoil impulse that made me pin a comp on both.

    Good luck mate.

Wow, I don't know much about their early history but I sold my DI rifle and bought an M6A2. I absolutely love it. OUTSTANDING quality. No expert on rifles but did spend 26 years in the Marines so not a casual user of this design in DI configurations.

Recently opted to buy one of the KAC/MagPul special editions. Naturally a DI gun. It's very nice too.

That said, I got a few extra bucks so when it came to buy another rifle I went back to LWRC. This time an M6A2 SPR.

There customer service is great. I like spare parts for my weapons and getting them from LWRC is a website purchase away. KAC is a PITA to deal with in this regard. Wanted to pick up there PROPRIETARY E3 bolt and still can't get one.

To the OP, your instincts are correct, it is a high quality rifle and an excellent shooter. Piston guns are great. If they weren't, DoD wouldn't be moving that way.

No matter, not really germane to this thread anyway so I won't digress and, instead, restate my belief that LWRC makes a very nice rifle. It's pricey, but I don't mind that as I find it worth it. Agree, others may find a 90% solution for 70% the $$ a better deal.

Every year it's the same thing and the same thread.
    Rumors.

Maybe your opinion on the Pentagon acquiring a new primary individual weapon would be better stated here?

I like my M6A2 as well. Great rifle.

Proprietary parts doesn't bother me, but LWRCi probably won't be the same LWRCi in the next 3 years, and you don't know if they'll still support there product.

    Regarding Knights:

Knights has never seen one reported case of an E3 bolt breaking, they're not made of MilSpec bolt material IIRC, they're made of something stronger. Call KAC and ask what it is. Combined with rounded lugs, they are stronger than a standard bolt, and will/should last longer than 30k rounds, and according to Travis Haley's experience, could last to at least 80k rounds.

Also, check Lawmans, E3 bolt rebuild kits, and E3 bolts are available there.

It's also comforting to know that KAC will still be KAC in 20 to 30 years, and run by either the same dude, or his kid.

    This

I bought the Tricon rifle just for the sake of burning some cash in the pocket, seeing as I already had a SR-15 E3, a PWS rifle and a handful of other toys. Was originally going to buy the DEA model, but the Tricon was already there, so I took it home. It shot well enough, went through 1000 rounds of surplus XM193 ammo. Did it impress me, not in the least. Was it worth the cost of another SR-15? Not to me. I sold it. Done. Never looked back. In fact, in the process of selling my PWS carbine as well. Just not that "in-love" with piston systems...
