Primary Arms 5x magnifiers on sale

Primary Arms 5x magnifiers on sale for $49. I ordered one. What the heck? I also ordered the discounted QD mount for $20. It will be used with my Aimpoint PRO. If it does not line up right, I'll pop for a LaRue Tactical QD Pivot Mount LT755-30T. My belief is that the mount is more important than the magnification as long as the red dot is good quality.

That seems to be a pretty good deal on that magnifier. I have always been under the impression that these won't fit in the LaRue mounts because of the bell-end of the optic and the one piece "horseshoe" design of the mount. I may have it wrong though, because I've never held them both in my hand.

    FYI:

The PA 5x magnifiers were on sale for $49 as a Memorial Day sale special. At this time, they are $69. Perhaps they'll go on sale again for July 4th? We shall see.

And MookNW is correct - because the PA 5x magnifier does not have a straight tube (bell at objective end), it will not fit in the 1-piece ring on the LaRue LT755-30T pivot mount. BUT, if you really wanted to use the magnifier in a LaRue QD mount and you could live without the pivot feature, you could use the LT-150. HOWEVER, even though the LT-150 looks to have about the same sized footprint as the LT755-30T, you may need to mount it more towards the back of the receiver in order to compensate for the bell of the magnifier sticking out of the front of the mount. This may equate to not being able to run rear BUIS when you plan to use the magnifier.

I got one when they were at the higher price to use as a proof of concept. they do require a mount that uses split rings.

5 power is too much to use as a RDS magnifier - there's a reason all the other manuf stick with three power. it's also pretty heavy and long. you wont be able to use a rear sight with it.

it works pretty good as a handheld monocular though...

I got a free one when I bought an eotech xps2-2 from them and it's laying in the safe. Can't find a use for it. It's huge.

I do like Primary Arms though, this magnifier is the only thing they've sent me that I can't brag on.
