My father is having a trust drawn up...

So, who's to say that rather than having to pay another 600.00 to this attorney for mine that I can't simply take a copy of my father's and duplicate it?

Any issues here? These things can't be copyrighted, correct?

This guy specialized in firearm trusts; however, 600.00 seems a bit exhorbitant to me.

One of my buddies is an attorney as well.....He's interested in the whole NFA/Class III trust process and said he'd have his secretary type it up and notarize it.

    ???

Why not just have your dad make you a trustee on his? Then you can make purchases and possess any weapons on the trust. I did this, the other way around. I had a trust drawn up and had him added as a trustee.

And yes, mine is copyrighted. At least it has a copyright marking on the bottom of each page.

That's what I was wondering too. My father and I are on the same trust. Other than that, if you HAVE to have a separate trust, and you are in the same state, I dont see why you couldn't just copy it and change the names.

Yep. The trustees are the people in the trust that can be in possession of the NFA items. That's what you're dad will be along with other titles within the trust.

If he's paying $600 for it then he may be using guntrustlawyer.com? I used that resource and they were more than happy to add my dad to mine.

nope. local guy....now, can i purchase my own NFA items or simply be in possession of his?

basically, the long and short of it is this....i've got an M4-2000 awaiting a Form III from Rainier to my dealer and he was gonna pay for my trust AND his own.

i figured that was a waste....trying to figure out best way to get around him blowing 1200.00...

It would have to be written for you guys to co-exist (co-grantors) as primary on the trust, it can be done just has to be written up properly.

Edit: You might want to reach out to Bob Howell for your trust needs, he is charging me less than $600.....

You will be able to make purchases. You need to be a trustee to purchase and possess. It will be easy for any lawyer to do for you all, just ask them. You do not have to be a grantor to possess and make purchases, only a trustee.

Correct I was mistaken on the Grantor thing.

As Iraqgunz says, this is not to be construed as legal advice.

Sidebar- I'm going to see Bob Howell Monday for my trust, it's done

Then I can send in the paper work for my first two stamps, my Noveske lower from DSG for SBR, and for the M4 2000 can I got at a GREAT price gently used from a local friend.....
