I need a price check on some vintage ARs (SP-1)

Just out of curiosity, what would they be worth unfired?

$1200 to $1300 new in the box.

I saw SP1s for $1100 in 2000 and I see them for $1100 in 2011.

Most guns appreciate at 3% compounded, so if it were worth $1100 in 2000, it should be worth $1522 in 2011. But it is not.

The problem is that the value of an AR jumped from $500 to $1000 in 1994 because there was then a premium paid for pre ban ARs.

But the 1994 assault weapons ban sunsetted in 2004.
So the value of pre ban should go back down, but the prices are sticky and don't go down.

It didn't sunset everywhere, demand in states like NY helps keep values up. It isn't uncommon to see SP1s here in shops for $1500-$1800. I don't know why some people here buy them at those prices when they can buy them online for $1000 any day of the week.
