I need a price check on some vintage ARs (SP-1)

I've got a buddy looking to see some vintage stuff. Neither he or I know what the real value of these guns is. Can someone help out with an estimation?

Here's what he has to say about them...

No boxes. All are in very good shape & function flawlessly.

The top item in the photo is a Colt Sporter Light Weight ser 004xxx has about 800 rds thru it.

Middle item is a Colt Sporter match H-bar ser 025xxx and only has about 400 rds. Thru it.

The bottom item is the Colt AR15 mod/SP-1 ser sp147xxx which is way below the preban threshold of 360200. This is the candidate for conversion. She only has 60 rounds thru her.

Even the SP01 is only worth $1100?

I was told there was some special mystical value to these because they could be made full auto by a Magic Gipsy with her special powers...

That is complete, unadulterated bullshit. Whoever is telling you that is sorely misinformed and/or trying to take advantage of you.

You can not convert a semi auto firearm to a full auto or select fire machine gun since May 1986.

You can buy a registered drop in auto sear (RDIAS) and run an AR in full auto that way, but the SP-1's aren't any more magical than any other AR.

So the auto sear can be dropped into any lower or does it have to be used in a an old lower like the SP01? Why does my buddy have it stuck in his head that this guy is worth a ton of money?

Yes, any lower, not just an old SP-1.

SP-1's are about $1K or less, condition depending, and geographically dependent as well (NY, MA are going to bring premiums on them).

All three pictured are AWB prebans.

Might also want to research pricing on a Registered Drop in Auto Sear.

    RDIAS.

You have two of the most common models of AR15 Colt has made. The SP1 and 6601 have been made in the 100,000s.

In fact, the SP1 is probably worth the least of those three. There are literally 100s of these for sale weekly on gunbroker.com and various other gun ad boards, you can go look for yourself and see.

The Sporter Lightweight carbine is also very common.

They have undesirable slabside receivers that can't accept a normal AR15 pushpin. Therefore they are only worth the amount I stated to someone in a ban state who doesn't care or doesn't know about the pushpin.
