I would think both would be a problem. Rattling around could cause problems as the shifting of the pins changes the geometry of the FCG parts. This will change the pull from shot to shot. If there is enough change in the geometry, the FCG will become unreliable. I don't know how much movement is needed to cause problems.

How well the spring legs hold the pins in place I don't know. But if the holes are enlarged and out of round, the pins will shift and possibly in such a way that the springs could push the pins out.

The more the pins move around, the greater the wear on the pin holes.

Opening up the pin holes to accept a hardened press in steel shoulder bushing would be an ideal repair for this problem if it's not cost prohibitive.

The KNS pins will stop the pins from walking and reduce the amount of play and geometry change. A drop in trigger would be better, but more costly.

What I would do in your place is install the KNS pins as a temporary repair and begin the SBR paperwork on a replacement lower

If everything is installed correctly then those holes must be really ate up if something is still walking. I'd personally like to see a detailed pic of the lower. I also wonder if it is only the trigger pin or both.
I'm at my gf's house this weekend, but I'll take a pic when I get home. I'm not sure how much you'll be able to tell from just looking at it, though.

I've heard worse things about DPMS LPKs than I have about their lowers themselves. Would an undersized pin be more likely to rotate and enlarge the hole or fail to hold the leg on the hammer spring?

When you said you tried a different FCG, did you use different pins or are you still using the DPMS ones? Have you miked the holes?

If the holes are truly over-sized, another option is to have someone install bushings.

I"m still wondering why the spring legs on the pins question keeps getting ignored...

"Not to insult you at all, but can you confirm the hammer spring is configured like this photo. Note the legs of the spring come from the underside and rest on the top of the trigger pin."

Ok, this is getting a little silly.

I stated twice on the first page that the LPK was properly installed with the legs on the pin, not below it.

Nothing "keeps getting ignored". Please read the whole thread.

An undersized pin would be the same as having oversized holes
