If my memory serves me correctly... Ohio Rapid Fire did sell the mk19 kits for somewhere between 3-5k.

I did a quick search and the website appears to be down. Seems the owner passed away so I am not sure what became of the store. They were also making/made 80% receivers.

ETA: Here is a link to an old add:

No, I wasn't implying that...sorry if it seemed like it.

I'm just a logical guy, not saying you aren't, but really...how much of a market for parts kits can their possibly be? Thats my perspective on it. But it definitely isn't illegal to own one.

If you can find someone to build it up for you, you'll have one hell of a collectible. You'll do nothing but profit if you decide to sell it later on.

He could not have someone just "build it up" as the parts are for a full auto destructive device. He would have to have someone make a semi auto receiver and modify the full auto parts to semi. It would still require NFA registration as a DD and the plans to do the semi conversion would need to be approved by ATF Tech Branch. That would be awfully expensive to just shoot chalk/smoke rounds since you cannot get HE rounds.

Well I would think it would still be a supply and demand situation. I see no loss in buying it, hanging onto it for awhile, and then selling it for a higher price. I've made money that way and the last time I did it, was an M-60 kit I sold to a title II manufacturer, for 2800 dollars. I think I paid maybe 800 for it when I got all the parts minus receiver together. I bought a transferable AC-556 from the guy I sold the parts to. When I figured out what I really spent on the AC-556, it came to about 3 thousand. So, yes, you can indeed make money from parts kits, and in my case, brought down my last machine gun to something reasonable in price. Bottom line, if the kit is cheap, buy it, cause you'll make money on it later.
May God have mercy on my enemies, because I won't.

I am well aware of the procedures involved with the project. My point was that if he went through with it, he'd have a unique collectable that could command quite a premium due to its rarity.

No offense was intended so please don't take it that way. Your post that he should have someone build it up for him did not indicate in anyway that you were aware of the procedures. I was just trying to make the point that it would be an expensive and time consuming project full of potential legal problems. I am sorry if you took it as an insult to your knowledge.

I don't think I would build it to actually fire, way too expensive. But at the price it's listed for, it would make for an interesting lawn ornament with some sand bags.
