    1895 MARLIN LOVE

I am finished with one of the guns I will remember for the rest of my life.

In short, I got the opportunity to do this gun for a member on the forum.

What he did was just let me go and do my thing. It has been some time, but all good things take time.
The Marlin is one of my life long loves, but the first part of the 1970’s is when they made the guns I like.
This gun is a 1972 model 1895 45-70 straight stock with no cross bolt safety - the way it should be.

I cut, crowned, silver soldered the sights on, custom fit the rail to the gun, cut the stock to 12-inch lop, fit a buttpad to the stock, had a custom sling made for the gun, did 30 hrs of body work on the gun, and finished it a custom Cera Kote.

    VERY nice.
Let those who are fond of blaming and finding fault, while they sit safely at home, ask, ‘Why did you not do thus and so?’I wish they were on this voyage; I well believe that another voyage of a different kind awaits them.”

that is some real nice work you've done there. I'd love to have someone with your skills work some magic on my 336.

We've got some emotion wrapped up in this one, brother.

Well done. Really, really, really well done.

I can think of a nickname: "Thumper".

I can hear the deer screaming in fear all the way down here in Texas. And a black bear would speak in respectful tones as well.

    Beautiful work, Mr. Smith.

Here's my 1895GBL. She's a sweet little thing and a thumper, all rolled into one. This picture isn't current...she now wears an XS Scout Rail.

Along with the other levers in my life
