Beautiful work Mr. Smith!
Beautiful work Mr. Smith!
- Less expensive than the SBL (although the stainless is a better idea if you are going into rough/wet country)
- Build quality pretty good...Marlin seems to be running through a rough patch but this one is good
- I like the large loop...good for gloves
- Wish it came with the rail and peep sights like the SBL...I replaced the standard sights with the XS sights shown here (which are better than the SBLs) and the forward rail
- Very reliable
- Haven't tested formally for accuracy...I can ring gongs no problem off hand
- Laminated stock is solid, comfortable but heavy...not a bad thing when you load up heavy loads though
- Very handy length
- In the end, I've probably put close to the same money as an SBL, but I like this just fine. It is set up better than an SBL in my opinion...just have to decide for yourself if the stainless is worth it.
We got the opportunity to get this gun on the scale and it is 8.5lbs.
The thing that people don’t get on the factory gun is attention to detail.

That is exactly what I am looking for!! Only difference would be a loop type lever like the one that Kilopaparomeo has on his Marlin.
Beautiful work!!
I recently received my 1894C back from Superior Firearms. I recommend Mr. Smiths work highly.
My rifle was a new production Marlin and a real POS. The front sight was crooked due to the factory drilling the holes off center. The action was very stiff. Now it is very smooth. It actually shoots straight.

More absolutely beautiful work!
Man...I can hardly wait for the magic to be completed on my 336. I have no doubt it'll be a work of mechanical art. :-)
