I also thought the Spyderco would feel cheap, I bought an Endura 4 and it is now my favorite EDC. The only issue I've had is very minor rusting. But if you go fishing in salt water and use your blade for tasks and don't rinse it off shit like that happens. The only thing the rust issue has made me want to do is buy an H-1 Endura. I'm definitely a Spyderco fan now.

The Para Military 2 is an unbelievable knife for the money. I have $600 folder, have had another, and will have more but have to say... the PM2 holds just as high a place for me. Perfect EDC.

I'm just throwing this out there because I've been looking back and forth between the Benchmade Griptilian and Spyderco Military. At knifeworks.com there is a discount code on the Griptilians currently which will take them down to about $76 once you add it to your cart and apply the coupon code. See the following link. The code is posted beneath every different model of Griptilian.

I'm not affiliated with knifeworks.com, but I recently had a very good experience with them. I ordered an ESEE 3 early Thursday morning. It shipped the same day and I had it on Saturday.

I have to agree. The PM2 is my first Spyderco and its fantastic but I will admit I dont abuse blades and not into researching knives to know how it ranks.

while it's tough to complain about a $30 knife, i won't be buying these again. i'd rather get the ZT0350 for around $100 than three of these at $30. IMHO, the ZT0350 is one of the best values for a good EDC knife out there.
I will echo mm's statement. I wasn't very imressed with the Tenacious that I purchased and have since given it to a friend. I suppose for simple tasks it would be ok however. I have been a Benchmade fan for many years and have carried one on me at all times right up until I got a 0350. While I do like the Axis lock on the Benchmades I have, this 0350 is a tank compared to them. The Speed Safe system is great, the S30V is awesome, and it just feels like you could chop a tree down with this thing. Overall it's about the same size as my Griptilians but with a bit more heft to it. I'm not sad to say that the ZT has become my EDC from this point forward.

I heard there were some issues with soft serrations/edges and partial opening on the early models in that line, but they have since been resolved. How long ago was this?

Correction: it was reportedly the geometry of the serrations on the early blades coming out of China that was the issue, not the steel composition or heat treat. I don't buy serrated knives personally so it's not an issue for me. 8cr13mov is supposed to be similar to AUS8 so edge retention advantage by VG-10 knives would make sense. But for 30 bucks I really like my Tenacious for opening pallets, cutting shipping straps and other grunt work and it is easier to sharpen than my Delicas.

I have been well served by my Delica4s with the saber grind, but would probably buy two of the new full flat ground models if looking for a couple good edc knives today because I dig the full flat grind on the Tenacious for ease of resharpening and the ability to cut like crazy with such a narrow grind.
