I have a DD and Larue rear. They're both good to go. The DD is cheaper and lighter and would be my choice if I needed another.

If you are running a folding front, I would keep the Troy.

KAC micro rear. 300m, or 600m doesn't matter.
    We miss you, AC.

I missed your second post. I thought you had a fixed FSP. Just stay with the Troy. They work just fine and you already own it.

    This is my plan.

The Troy rear folder is very nice, however I picked up a PRI rear folder at a good price and have been very happy with it.

With fixed front sights I prefer fixed rear....DD or LMT

    Typically for me:
magnified optic -> folding front & rear
RDS at absolute cowitness -> fixed front, folding rear
RDS at lower 1/3 cowitness -> fixed front & rear
RDS on HD gun -> no BUIS

Given that you have a folding front you might as well use a folding rear. I have seen at least one member here that uses a fixed rear and folding front but it's pretty uncommon for whatever reason. Is your KAC rail one with a spring-loaded folding front or one that requires you to manually deploy it? Either way, just for continuity you might try a KAC folding rear. No real functional reason for that, but there's certainly nothing wrong with the KAC sights and for whatever reason I tend to like to use my sights in sets front/rear from the same manufacturer if I can.

The front is manual deployment. I considered the KAC 300m rear, but the easy transition (flip the aperture) from 300 - 600m on other folders, like the Troy, led me away.

I am going for lower 1/3 cowitness. Since opening this thread, I looked down the sight line of a setup with fixed front/rear and RDS set to lower 1/3. It was too busy for me. I just want to see the red dot.

Remember that it's a BACKUP iron sight. On an SBR. With an RDS. IMO worrying about flipping apertures is very far down the list of criteria for selection.

This is a common mistake. I had the same objection when I first looked through an optic this way. Once you get out and shoot with it and focus where you're supposed to be (both figuratively and literally) it is a total non-issue. Even less so with a 1/3 mount. Even less so again with a T-1 in a 1/3 mount.

It is best to make decisions about guns & gear on the range, not in a vacuum. Clearly we need to ensure that things are functional before hitting the range or that all obvious physical conflicts are resolved, but beyond that decisions are best made based on actual use.

Good point. Prior to contemplating this, I borrowed a LEO's SBR for a 3gun night match (he was there too) and his set up was fixed front/rear with lower 3rd T-1. I asked him why this set up. His response was to have buis in the event his rds went down. He didn't want to have to think about "flipping" up sights. In the end, the setup was faster and practical for him. My situation, as a civilian, would be completely different.

Please don't assume I haven't given this functional evaluation. As most threads on these forums, I am looking for other people's input and opinions to either confirm mine or give me good food for thought. Which your feedback has done. Thanks

In my limited evaluation, in the dark, I didn't focus on the fixed sight's, however, in light, they are RIGHT THERE! Anyhow, with the KAC built-in front folder, would you suggest I mount a fixed on top of the folder?
