My only concern is that Frog Lube is listed as biodegradable. How long will it last on my weapon until it oxidizes or until it goes rancid? What kind of varnish does it leave as it biodegrades?

There's a reason we lube guns with petroleum oil instead of butter.

Good question. According to their website it says: "FrogLube may be left in place indefinitely."

So far, I've been very pleased with FrogLube and in some instances my experience is similar to that of Iraqgunz, with the exception of the 90F temperatures and the FA and/or suppressed shooting.

All of the petro-based lubes I have tried all run. Whether it be WeaponShield or Slip2000 EWL. The FrogLube stays put and only really moves around as it warms up.

I am not getting the shitty smell in my face and I am also not seeing lube run into my mags.

I ordered 4 oz of the lube to T&E. It's going on my SR15 when it gets here. I should have ordered the paste. I'm using something similar on my Glocks (Enos Slide Glide) and it's the bees knees in terms of maintaining viscosity and staying put.

To each his own. If it's not for you by all means try something else. So far I have been happy and so have the others that I have spoken to. People mix all kinds of petro based cocktails together in hopes of achieving Nirvana. Who knows how that all interacts.

Going back to Petroleum based products

How hard would it be to go back to petroleum based products once you've started using froglube?
On their cleaning instructions it says that froglube will dissolve petroleum on contact.
Just curious before I try it out.

Well,,I just ordered some myself,,4oz paste,,4oz liquid,,we will see,,but it sounds like decent stuff !! Order cost me $25.27 & I bought a Small Bottle of Hoppes to qualify me for Free Shipping !!! I think it worked out to my advantage,,every other place was at least $8/$10 bucks shipping for the same items without the #9 !! Check this place out,,they have lots of good reloading items also ! I'll keep ya posted on when the Lube shows up !!!

Well, yeah... oil dissolves in oil. Doesn't matter if it came from a rock, or if it came from a plant or animal.

I think Frog Lube is probably a good enough lube. I like that it's non toxic, and people say it smells good which is always a plus. I probably clean my gun often enough not to have to worry about any gumming-up or varnish from decomposing Frog Lube... but for long term storage I'd probably hose down the gun with solvent and reapply something like Eezox or Ballistol.

At 50 bucks a pound, I'll have to hold off ordering Frog Lube for now. If it were free (or not priced like HP printer ink) I would definitely try some just for the heck of it.

Shouldn't be an issue. Hot water and Simple Green or something will probably clean it away.

Rock on then. If you don't want to use it, don't. I am just throwin' another option out there.
