DWM P.08 Luger & Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Army

This is part of the estate of a friend I'm trying to settle.

Must ship to a FFL, no trades, thanks.

It's got an interesting history, apparently.

The information I've gotten from several Luger experts about this piece is as follows....

According to Jan Still's Weimar Lugers, your gun was made in 1928. It started out as an Alphabet DWM commercial (C/N commercial firing proofs) with a 7.65mm - 30 cal. barrel. It was put into military/police service and the barrel was immediately changed to 9mm and the military style numbering added.
The grip strap marking is from the Police School at Sensburg that served the province of East Prussia (Ostpreußen). I can barely make out an earlier O beneath the S which is probably from the earlier marking P.O. (Polizeischule Ostpreußen) for the same school. The P.S. marking is a transitional marking for this school between that specified in 1922 (P.O.) and 1932 (PS.) (HWIS Chapter 12).

The lack of a sear or mag safety is not suprising. Many of the police school Lugers did not receive these modifications. They probably were transferred to the military.

There are no Waffenamts because the pistol was manufactured for the commercial market and is commercially proofed. It was purchased by the Prussian state police and issued to the police school at Sensburg. The fact that it does not have sear and mag safeties suggests that it was transferred in 1934-36 to the Landespolizei and from there to the military. There apparently was no requirement for these pistols to be further accepted by the military.

The holster is an early Reichsrevolver holster that was modified at an armory level to take a P.08, spare magazine, and loading tool.

The spare magazine is a Danish military magazine.

The holster looks like a nice early conversion of a pre-1900 Reichsrevolver holster to a Luger holster, which is a rare holster.
Converted Reichsrevolver holsters are collectable in themselves and this one is in fair condtion. Altogether, a decent rig.

$1250.00 for the P.08 Luger, holster, spare magazine, and loading tool.

$1000.00 for just the pistol, spare mag, and loading tool.

It will make a great shooter, or is a fine representative of significant events in the 20th Century.

All numbers match except the magazines.

    Shipping not included.

US Postal Service Money Order, Personal Check (must clear before shipment), or Certified Bank Funds.

This Colt M1911 was built in early 1918 according to the serial number.
